For those of you who get them, how severe are they for you?
The counseling center I go to recently changed which doctor I see. I had told the previous doc that I started having tremors and thought it was a side effect of my meds. She had me take a blood test and said the levels of each of my meds were within "therapeutic range" and that the tremors must not have been causes by the meds. She recommended I go to a different (not mental health) doc and have them find out what was causing it. The was a mishap in the prescription and I was out of lithium for a couple weeks....tremors went away. Got back on Lithium. Tremors returned.

Her: "Are you experiencing any side effects from your medication?"
Me: "Yes, I'm having tremors from the lithium."
Her: "Ah yes, that is a common side effect. I'll add a new prescription for to take to help with that."
TL;DR -- First doc said lithium didn't cause my tremors; new doc said they did and gave me more meds.
How bad are your tremors? Sometimes, it is really bad for me. Like trying to eat soup and I shake all the soup off the spoon before getting it the few inches to my mouth!!
Texting on my touchscreen phone is a problem because my hands shake and either hit the wrong area for hit the right area several times.
I've even had trouble eating popcorn unless I eat it just one piece at a time.
I've had several people comment to me about it wondering it I was okay.

I get them from time to time. I notice it the most if I get dehydrated. Sometimes if I am over tired or sick. I think its mostly when my defenses are down. I would almost bet for me if I hada blood test every time it happens my level would be up higher then my normal. Have you considered a lower dosage to see?
I would look into extended or lower dose.. summer it got worse for dehydration.
I'll ask my doc about the slow release type and maybe a lower doseage.
And just a note - anyone having hand tremors, please just be aware it could be your thyroid, especially if you are also having heart palpitations.

Hand tremors I one of the first side effects listed on a Lithium script !
I had tremors pretty badly, I couldn't write, and it was hard to hold anything steady.
I do think there are meds you can take , that help with tremors

Under the watchful eyes of my health care team I spent 6 months preparing to go off my meds because of the side effects, I was on a merry go round of meds then. I spent 10 months off meds, but couldn't do any longer. Last Nov I went back on meds, Lithium included.
To date I have no side effects at all except a bit latergic in morning. I had no back pain at all for that time period, but just one month of taking Lithium again I was disabled with my back. I am presently working to find out if it is caused from Lithium or not. I have changed over to Depakote to see if my back gets better.
All meds have a side effects, I hope you can find the right fix for you.
