Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

But...
this is a site owned by sharecare, not by the members - it's free for peer support for anyone as long as you follow basic rules. That's similar to many other places, virtual and real.
You don't have a trial by peers in a bar or pub - the owners ask you to calm down and if you don't you get barred.
Bear in mind if someone is breaking the rules then that means that others are either getting abused or the board is presenting itself in a way that would be offputting to new members joining for support. So trust me after seeing this stuff here for 6 years, 3 or so as a CL I do now understand what the effect one disruptive member can have and how many people they can effect.
If you don't see every single post on DS, and in some cases all the hugs and PMs no one here can really know the extent of abuse made by a member.
I don't know who told you you were involved in getting her kicked off. If you think it was me I was referring to someone else. Who is now also banned.
This is not a community like war and terrorism - it's a support board for people with Bipolart disorder.
You are entitled to your opinion, but that is simply not the way things work here.
If so forget "I don't know who told you you were involved in getting her kicked off. If you think it was me I was referring to someone else. Who is now also banned. "
And replace with - She was a returnee banned member. I don't know what she originally did or what user name she had but obviously DS had her on a list. I also recieved complaints regarding her in the very short time she was here.
Her first post here was about the banning of a popular member and ran something like "I'm glad he was banned - I'm sure he deserved it". Ironic, no?
The rest of what I said stands.
Apart from what I saw, what she originally got banned for I had complaints from bipolar meembers who come here for support.
Please don't try and romantacise her banning.
War & Terrorism is supposed to be a support group but isn't. It's merely a debating pit.
Bipolar will not go the same way.
@Rich, you have a point.
We had 2 or was it 3 new people causing trouble - the racist, the one that latched onto you and another one. Those in turn spawned two further bannings of regular members because they rose to the bait.
Another member was basically given crap advice by someone who should know better and probably got some pleasure over watching them take the fall. They also managed to get another member suspended. Luckily they are now off the board but they took some good people with them.
I feel no regret about the nuisance members, I do care about the regulars we lost.
"Nature show where the one otter pup cant keep up and is left to die. or the bird one where the smallest bird doesnt get enough food, dies and becomes lunch for the others"
We are ALL at one time or another that otter pup. We are ALL that bird.
That's why we come to the Bipolar support board. Those that go out of their way to attack others are warned, then suspended, then banned. They get plenty of warning.
So your friend that got banned presumably had plenty of opportunities but set out to simply spread misery.
Remember your friend was jubilant over the banning of a member here who was having a bad time. Who was the sick pup then?
I didn't say they were a nuisance to me. It's not my call, it's DS's decision.
But these people have been deemed to be a nuisance by other members and in cases triggering, for example the racist.
We do our best to protect our own. People are given chances by both membbers and DS. Some people persist. Some we regret their banning, others not. It's up to the individual.
I don't see where you have been intimidated either, you've made your opinion abundantly clear in posts and PMs. I've made mine clear from the perspective of someone who is bipolar, who has been a member here for years and has been a CL for years.
I'm not going to comment further. I've explained.
They are not my rules. They are DS's. They own the site. They make the rules.
They just follow you room to room, fighting with themselves - making everyone miserable, then we continue to discuss
and they never try - because there mission was not support.... I'm glad we have rules! Unacceptable behavior - should be unacceptable on DS as well as real life..
We are not doing favors loving someone to death...
