Hm never heard about that... I have never had issues with Lamictal and I take the max recommended dose 400mg... side effect wise for me it is the most mild out of all my meds.


Tylenol makes you feel high - like regular run of the mill easy going Tylenol? Or are you talking about Tylenol 3 or Tylenol with Codeine?

Oh and I am not saying it cannot effect you that way, just I have never heard of that nor experienced it myself.

Regular old Tylenol. It has always made me a little drowsy but now it's like I'm on some bad trip. I've never done illegal drugs but the last 3 times I've taken regular old Tylenol it's weird

Ok.. called my pdoc today.. he said I'm the 2nd patient in his practice to have severe pain on lamictal.. and that it's not listed as a side effect (he says his book might not have the newest stuff) for it but it happened to another patient and it was listed on the print out the pharmacy gave me so... I can't take lamictal anymore. He says the next step is serequol? sorry I don't know how to spell it....

Oh Seroquel? Why is that the next step? Honestly if I didn't have issues that needed an antipsychotic and the fact that I cannot tolerate all the other ones I would not be on Seroquel at all... Have you tried other anticonvulsants, like Depakote, Trileptal, Tegretol or even good ole fashioned Lithium? I am just saying as Seroquel can be a great med yes, but it is hard to get used to for most as it makes you incredibly drowsy (although that gets better the higher your dose gets and give it 2 weeks after you are increased) and it can have a side effect of screwing with your metabolism and making you really hungry - some people worse than others & weight gain of course is a result. I would ask about other anticonvulsants first (unless you have issues with psychosis) and if an antipsychotic is needed maybe try things like Risperdal, Abilify, Invega, Geodon first? (I cannot take Abilify, Invega or Geodon at high enough doses as I get really insane akathisia which is a nasty side effect, although I can tolerate Risperdal but I have to take another med to stop the akathisia and unfortunately it makes me lactate so I cannot be on it long term - so I am stuck with Seroquel... But if I could tolerate them I would so go with Abilify & 76% of patients who try it do not get akathisia, the unlucky 24% do - boo)

The pdoc feels I'm either bipolar or have borderline personality disorder. I have tried Zoloft (prescribed my GP before I was referred out), tegretol (made me so tired and it felt like my tongue was all tingly numb like when you get Novocain), umm what else? oh celexa made me MORE depressed... like food didn't taste like anything, I could just sit and stare at nothing for hours.. it was bad... I stuck with it for 2 weeks before I was like ok enough! then now lamictal. I will see if we can try some other anticonvulsants. I really don't want serequel. the last appt he gave me the choices between that and lamictal and he is really good about laying out all the risks and potential side effects and I did NOT want that unless it was absolutely necessary.

I was the same way! I hit either 75 or 100mg a day and I couldn't even lay in bed without being in such severe pain I couldn't stand it! I went to the ER because I thought there was something seriously wrong with me!

If I remember right, Topamax is in the same area as Lamictal. It worked very well for me the first time I took it. I was on it for a pretty long time the first time. I don't remember but it was at least a few months to a couple years. It eventually stopped working and was already at maximum dosage. The second time, years later, it didn't have the same effect.
