what dosage did your pdoc start you at? you know it's gradual process, you can't just start at 300 mgs. I take lamactil and did haven any of those problems.

what was the dr prognosis?

I am still ony on 25mg!!! tiny dose! suppose to get up to 200mg within a month

it's a slow process, too high dosage, could cause a allergic reaction or hives/rash. It does take about a month or so. I liked it, it seemed to help me, level me outbut I still have period of mania and cycle down to depression.

did you talk to your doc?

you know every med has some type of side effect in the beginning but usually don't last. what do you think youre going to do?

I take 50 mg and I havn't had those side effects.

I just spent some time researching the subject, (good thing to research since I just started on it a few days ago too) I find nausea and vomiting but it says those are dose related. Since you just started last week, I'd guess you're probably on week 2 of the starter pack which theoretically shouldn't have been the cause. But, perhaps your body is just very sensitive. I sure would speek with the pdoc before taking it in the morning though, just in case. Maybe you just caught a bug, but you can't be too cautious. I hope you're feeling better soon, Love, Mary :)

bpmum, do you have the actual starter pack that has pills in it for the first 5 weeks?

The reason I ask is the starter pack has you take 25 mg for 2 weeks, 50 mg for 2 weeks and 100 mg on week 5. From there obviously you go with the pdocs recommendation. If you go up to quickly lamictal can cause a severe rash which can actually be fatal -- rare but still.

I always take my meds with food, usually right after breakfast. My stomach is too sensitive

I'm on 150mg of Lamictal. I started on 25 then 50 then 100....I did not have any stomach problems. I have not read anywhere that it causes this. Maybe you had a coincidental stomach bug or it just effects you this way. You never know because the symptoms they list may not always cover everything , but they do cover even the rarest of symptoms. Give it a little time and talk to your doc.

MHA.... #7, is the way i started. I was on 400mgs and felt pretty good.

When i first started lamictal (i take it at night because it makes me tired) in combination with my trazodone.I would wake up to use the bathroom and i would be SO dizzy i would throw up ..But i seem not to have that problem anymore ..i also stopped chugging water all day for fear of wakeing up at night ..im a mess ....but the meds are working great for me now ..I actually am stable ..for now at least

I'd have to agree with MHA. Wonder if you had a stomache bug? Rare side effects do pop up for everyone, but I have never heard, or read about such dramatic intestinal stuff from Lamactil. My daughter has been on it for 6 months now (along with a tiny dose of lithium and celexa) and it has made ALL the difference in our lives! She had tried soooo many other things. So if you are feeling better, and i sure hope you are, try to stay with it. If your pdoc agrees. Just a suggestion.
One thing about Lamactil, I hear, is that it taste nasty. Okay..."like ass" were my teenagers exact words. So every once in awhile, she refuses to take it and i have to either humor her in to it, or just say "Okay, lets try tomorrow." Anyone else have this problem? If so, is there anything you take with it that makes it go down more easily?
