In some instances, the police are bound by law to take action themselves, regardless of who says what. I don't know how or if that will apply in this case.
They will be able to tell that the gun has been recently fired.
Did you know that when a bullet is fired into the air, it can kill someone when it comes down?
His firing that gun should be reason enough for them to take him into custody.
You NEED to call the police, right now.
You owe it to yourself, to him, and to everybody else who may be hurt or killed by his actions, whether he meant to or not.
Forget looking at it like 'calling the cops on your husband' is a horrible thing to do. Or that doing so is going to make things even worse.
In this case, the main reason for doing it is that it may very well save a life. Or lives.
Call the police and get him the help that he needs, and see to your own safety.

I assume that being of sound mind that you have already called the police so that they can get him the treatment that he needs.
It is not so uncommon for others who may be out on thier patio holding thier child or at kitchen window... to be stuck by stray bullet.
