I have only been treating my bipolar disorder now for about three months. There was an 11 day hospital stay in the psychiatric unit where medications were adjusted.

My head finally feels clear. I got up off the couch and cleaned my apartment something I haven't done in months. It feels really good to have a clear path from my couch to the bathroom without tripping hazards in my way.

I would like to think is the medication because I no longer lay on the couch and sleep all day! Hoping tomorrow is better than it was today!

Quick question: can medications affect your hormones as well as help with your mind?

I don't know about the hormones but congrats on getting up and feeling well enough to clean the old apartment, Good going!!!!

You are so lucky your meds worked so fast! Sometimes it takes longer to adjust. Keep it up Allison! Depending on what you are taking some meds can play with your hormones. Remember, if you get a down day it's not the end of the world... Good days will come back! (((HUGS)))

I'm glad you have had such success so quickly. You are very fortunate. It took me forever it seemed like.

I'm guessing going to a psychiatric unit where they were able to adjust your medications was a good idea. I was too afraid to go so I suffered for years before finding a good psychiatrist.

I really like the advice Bibiane gave about if a bad day does come remember good days will return.

I don't know about medications affecting hormones, but I do know as a woman my hormones still affect my mood once a month. During this time I do as I always have and take Pamprin and it seems to help.

Thanks everyone! I've been on meds since about March 25, and I'm really glad that I am starting to think more clearly. Cleaning my apartment is a step in the right direction. Now I'm going through and shredding mail that I haven't opened for about two years. Why open bills when you sure as heck have no money to pay them :)

will see how today goes, keep your fingers crossed for me!
