Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

For someone who is terminally ill and wishes to end their life with dignity I would say that it may be appropriate.
For someone whose suicidal desire is based on something transitory, as in a bout of depression, a break up or so on and therefore would given a chance, live a life they would judge worth living..I would say it is not.
I think suicide for other reasons is wrong in that it hurts those around so much, esp if someone has children. My psychiatrist has told me that children whose parents commit suicide have the same amount of mental problems as children whose parents sexually abuse them.
When we look at the subject as a whole, where different religions and cultures meet, it's just hard to conclude.
Suicide could be an option for some people. i can say this because a lot of people do it. But to me , as much as possible i just wanted to live you know?
If i would see someone who would jump down from a building, I would probably stop him. But if he doesn't want to listen to me, I can do nothing.
However, I could go on living.
Everday suicide is complicated as there are so many reasons people take there own lives. Mainly people with mental illnesses commit suicide, which is why if someone is at risk and gets help in enough time, they get put in psych wards to protect them. Even in there they will still try to commit suicide and get put on watch (like in prison), so I believe that even if you get help for someone they will still attempt it no matter what, because that's the frame of mind they are in. There are a minority who will attempt it and don't really want to do it, but mainly people who attempt it are serious and it's still a personal choice. Maybe they have to live with something mentally terminal and not physically terminal, so they should still have a choice and I don't see it as selfish etc. I've had friends who have killed themselves, but they were in pain mentally so it was better for them to do it than live in mental torture is how I view it. I'm not saying that suicide is right and everyone who wants to do it should do it. I'm just saying it's a personal choice and people should respect that choice. Of course everyone would try to save someone from killing themselves, especially if they know them, but it's not always possible and you just have to accept that even if it's hard at times.
