Good info. My mania started after a year on paxcil and a year on wellbutrin when they thought I was just depressed. Went violent. Ended up in the hospital after the paxcil episode and they diagnosed me bp then. Too bad it took them this long to figure it out.

Thanks i glad to hear this, I was told by one of my psy doctors, that people who had bipolar should not have anti. but mood stabilizers, along with anxiety meds if needed.

Thank you Doug for bringing that to our attention. Very fortunately, I am not taking an antidepressant with my meds. I used to though. I now feel really good and think I finally am receiving the right dosages.

Wow! I still can't believe that we have been taking the combination and didn't have to. Waiste of money for those who have to pay for them and the side effects that some have endured.

I'd seen this research but this is a great article in everyday terms. Thanks. I have been triggered when on too much antidepressent into mani for sure. Still take a baby dose but.... we'll see.

Now I am really confused,sorry. Do we need an antidepressant or not ? My P.DR.put me always on both mood stabilizer and antidepressant.

SADLY WITH THE EXCEPTION of 1 antidepressant, cymbalta....they cause me to be more depressed....then the mania yuk

cymbalta caused me such problems and put me into a horible downward spiril that I almost didnt recover from. I would literal fall asleep at work. One min fine the bam I was passed out. Scared a co worker of mine. I am on lexapro..a small does but have been questioning if I should be on it. I am going to talk to my pdoc about it.
