Aww Dee, I'm so sorry. My therapist moved last year and I had been seeing him weekly for over 4 years..... I was devasated. It's been almost a year and I still haven't found a new one.

That just sucks..... I wish I could think of something inspiring to say but its just a shitty situation. I hope you have better luck than I have had finding someone new.

That is a blow, Dee. Maybe he had to leave involuntarily - we never really know the whole story. I guess that doesn't matter much now though, except I'm sure it's not personal.

Dee, just try to remember, your grief is very fresh. It does take time to work through it and you just havn't had much time. Give yourself permission to be sad and be kind to yourself until it gets better.

You are dealing with too much on top of too much. Trust me, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Hang on until you get there.

Most therapists see therapists themselves. It is an incredibly grueling profession. And, of course, they are human just like us and perhaps something unexpected came up. Baby #2 is pursuing her masters in psychology and hopes to have her own practice one day.

Dee, I am so sorry..........that has to feel aweful. It is very difficult to trust let alone start over with someone else. As Belle said, maybe it was involuntary. I had a doc that left unexpectedly from a practice I was going to. She later send emails/notes to her patients to explain. There are contracts of confidentiality that sometimes don't allow them to do that.

Please try not to let it bring you down too much. Your new therapist might be just as wonderful if not better. You are in my thoughts and I hope the best for you.............xo

I remember the best therapist I've ever had - moving to another city, and it was the time of my step-fathers death - my first loss, and I was a HUGE mess.....

I miss my psych doc...he was the best....and only pdoc I've seen do therapy. He only does child and adolescent patients so I last had him 14 years ago. I wish he'd make an exception. We'd drive an hour and a half 3 x a week sometimes.....he was that good. I'm sorry your therapist just disappeared...its scary. Maybe the new one will be even better.

Is it possible that he joined another practice, and it's simply a matter of transferring your files? I went through something similar a few years ago. I was going to one doctor that practiced within a group of about 7 other doctors. She actually left the practice and went off on her own. Because of legal contracts, etc. she was not allowed to carry her current patients over to her new practice, however, if we inquired about her, they could give us her new info (phone number, office location, etc.). Plus, because they knew they were going to lose a lot of patients, the remaining doctors were bitter because of her departure. So, don't be surprised if you run into something similar. They don't want to lose your business, so they aren't going to just offer up info. You've got to go digging for it. Best of luck to you. I know it's not easy to start over with a new doctor. It's like starting ALL over at the very beginning. Well, I hope this at least gives you something to go on... a reason to fight for what you want.

I'm so sorry Dee.. It does sound like something was going on behind the scenes that he couldn't or wasn't able to discuss with you..
We open up so much to our therapists it's hard to lose them..

That bites ass!!! I would be beside myself over something like that especially a good therapist.
