Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
I have been sick for a couple of months (throwing up 1-4 times per day, severe abdominal pain, intense nausea) and my doctors have been ruling out all sorts of physical causes, finding nothing. I have no idea if this is the case or not, but my doctor just told me that although we are still looking for a physical cause (especially because I've lost a ton of weight), she has had many patients with similar symptoms that they eventually attributed to stress and unknown causes. I think that our bodies are very in-tune with our mental states, and that one suffers so does the other. (Personally, I am hoping for a physical cause because I can't take much more!)
Fear releases chemicals into your body. In normal circumstances those chemicals that could help you survive a life or death situation actually can cause your system to be overly burdened . Thus, weakening your immune system as well as simple exhaustion form all of the work being done on a cellular level within your body.
The chemicals basically put your body on 'high alert'. Your muscles receive signals and blood flow to prepare for fight or flight. Your breathing increases to prepare to deliver more oxygen to your muscles. Your brain goes on high alert as well- constantly taking in every detail so you'll know when to fight, or flight.
Imagine your cells sprinting, trying to outrun a threat. Now imagine how those cells must feel after sprinting for three days. Never slowing or stopping, just running flat out.
Drinking plenty of water can help flush those chemicals out of your body. And, of course, de-stress lol. Easier said than done.
There is a type of delusion where you think you are sick (or even dying) when in fact you are fine.
