Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
I'd suggest your reason for staying on meds is so you can feel human at least a little!
I think it's a rite of passage for all beepers to either want to stop,or just stop altogether....and we all know the disaster it leaves behind...BUT ,we still question and ask..WHY AM I TAKEING THESE DAMN MEDS
Simple answer? Because not taking them is moronic. For 80% of bp'ers meds are the only way not to kill yourself, not to see shit and not to destroy every personal relationship you have.
Until you've tried all the meds out there (I'm not just talking trying out 2 and calling it a day) you don't have enough info to make a wise choice.
It would be like trying cherry and licorice and saying you would never eat a jelly bean again because those flavors tasted bad. Just doesn't make sense.
Pass me a Xanax,I think I've just triggered myself!LOL!
But why do I stay on it? I have no life otherwise. It is consumed by my various disorders, and therapy is a lot more helpful if you are medicated. Yeah, it sucks, but I've finally come to the point where I know I'll be on one medication or another for the rest of my life.
Please stay on your meds. You'll be glad you did.
Is it side effects? Why not get a med review ...maybe you can take a more tolerable med combo??
Yeah, my cousin went off meds & lived on the streets for a while..he was 21, off his tree & it wasn't pretty.
Do try & help yourself x
