I'm so sorry, these are each very difficult things. Please forgive yourself. Minnie passed away at home, where she felt most comfortable, where things smelled familiar and comforting, not on a cold table at the vet's office. You and her spent time together, and then, maybe she knew it was ok to go. This may not be true, and I don't mean to offend you, but I think you should find a way to forgive yourself.

As for the disability, do know know what the lawyer recommends from this point? I don't know anything about getting it, except that it is tough.

From what I've heard a lot of people are turned down at first... I would talk with the lawyer to see what he/she thinks you should do next...Give yourself a few days and perhaps ask for a meeting... Big hug..x

You are facing a lot right now. I have two dogs and would be very sad to see one pass. Financial setbacks too--a heavy load.

I'm so sorry, Reds. Losing someone you love is just so hard - I agree with Sadie - better for her to pass away at home, in her own space that she loved, rather than at the vet's. I've had that same guilty struggle before but I know - for example - when Sofi passed away, I just held her in my arms, in my bed, her favorite place to be.

Our mini (as in minipuss) was a sad loss but sometimes cat's develop things so fast nothing can be done. As sadie says probably beter to happen at home than in the car or at the vets.

Hey Red I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my 12 year old cat in 2009 and I still cry for her. I think that animals know when it is time. My cat went into the woods behind our home curled up under a tree and went to the rainbow bridge. I think your kitty wanted to pass where she was most comfortable and with those she loved so much. I know this deosnt make it easier but I hope it helps a little. Also I am a part od the pet bereavment group. you should check it out it has helped me a lot. Hugs to you.-

Hang on. I know from experience how much it hurts lost my last cat in 2012. It took me 6 months to stop thinking about it. Only time heals. Now I think of him time to time. What helped a lot for me was to have his grave here at home and I decorate it every season and go visit him whenever I want that was the best therapy to visit him and decorate his grave all pretty. It took 3 times for disability to come. If the lawyer don't work get a new one who specializes in Disability Law.
