Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
I believe my bipolar robed me of all of my dreams. I simply did not have what it took to accomplish what I wanted. I have been hanging on by a thread to life for most of my life. I've been walking on the edge of a cliff.
I also know that there are times I feel better and even though I'm usually the type who is looking forward to passing over to the other side, I also get some joy from life. Not all the time, sometimes more sometimes less and sometimes none!
Hang in there. It sounds like you're depressed and are perceiving everything in a negative light. You are not a looser. You have done your best with the tools you had available to you. It's not your fault if they didn't get you to where you wanted to be.
If you believe in God, it helps to pray during these times. I hope you feel better soon.
but it helped me to read that just because bi-polar isn't "seen" , doesn't mean it isn't an illness - and it is illness that has prevented me from achieving the big things, not me.
My house has compromised plumbing and bad floors. It is a tiny house that is the size of a cottage. The dishes pile up and when you do one set, the sink still has dishes. And then, the ADHD son gets upset and bored and my thyroid-challenged hubby is all tired, and sometimes, I get very, very depressed. The blue collar life lends to it a grossness that the middle classes don't deal with-the pests that eat your garbage, the yucky bathroom that has to be fixed with tax money, etc. In America, in 2011, there are children taking baths in plastic tubs bought from Wal-Mart because the bathtub is messed up. Of course, one argues that at least we have clean water-yes, reason a plenty to be thankful.
The only things that keep me going are my friends, my son's sense of wonder and beauty, and my church. Of course, God is there too. Those things keep me on track. Otherwise, I'd totally derail.
