Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
I know how you feel, I have tried to "rekindle" friendships but sadly have come to the realization that its a 2 way street. If they dont make an effort I just forget it and move on. It's hard, but its better than waiting around.
Don't despair!!! I'm sure that you will be able to make good friends!! Maybe Facebook isn't the right way for you to go, at least for now. (((((Hugs)))))
bookmaven- I think you're right that I need to have faith in myself as someone worth knowing, but I don't see my friends as people who value me. If they did, they wouldn't be blowing me off. But if they are just busy, then I should cut them some slack, and maybe rethink the degree of our friendship.
yaya- that's what I've been thinking, it takes two. If one person doesn't make an effort, why should the other struggle to make their relationship.. something?
Carla- Nathan hasn't answered my facebook messages for a couple months, and my phone calls for the past two weeks or so. Molly, it's been three weeks or so... Eric said he wanted to see me when he got home and he said he would be here the 11th-15th... so I'm guessing he's gone, never called me. Emily just never calls me, it could be years without talking and she wouldn't notice. But if one of them does decide to return my call, I think I would answer and give them a chance.
I guess I have to be more laid back about it. I'll have to be patient in making new friends. Thanks for your comments.
But even if there is no excuse, and these people are just ignoring you, do you really want them as friends? Find some real people with common interests and build friendships. Facebook should be about real people, not building numbers. DS is great, but not the same as people who you interact with every day.
Can you think of some ways you could do things for other people? Maybe they are burnt out for some reason, and you could give to them. Are you being needy, when they need a chance to be helped?
Not saying any or all of these things apply to you or your friends. Just relating some experiences I have had, and some ways you might want to explore to change your relationships.
