Gets to me too. If my meds have me feeling like that I just stop taking them. You don't 'have' to take your meds, you don't 'have' to do anything - especially when it's making you feel bad. I know how depressing the mind numbing fogginess can get.

You shold call your pdoc and let him know whats going on. Stopping and starting lamictal can cause some serious side effects. Calling the pdoc would most likely be the smartest thing to do..

Thanks for the help. I'm recently diagnosed and I'm still having problems feeling like I'm losing part of myself by taking these meds. I hope that feeling fades in time because I know that I really need them, its just that for the moment I'm a bit overwhelmed by it all.

I understand how you feel, I have felt the same way. But, everytimes I think about going off meds I think about how I felt without them and the fact that I would most likely become suicidal again.

Never stop any meds abruptly without your pdocs approval. Some meds, if stopped abruptly, can cause seizures, rapid drop in blood pressure, stroke etc.

Tell your doc how you feel and that you dislike taking your meds. My pdoc will always work with me on that and try to find meds that help me to feel stable without too many side effects.

Hi Ivy. I do understand about being tired of taking meds. I've been taking them for 22 years now. As bad as they can make us feel sometimes, you certainly don't want to get into a psychotic mania and and have to deal with the consequences of heaven knows what could happen. The crash from mania can cause you to get very suicidal. Bellieve me, you would rather just take the meds and try to live with the side effects. Talk to your pDoc about it. May be she could make some changes to where you'll feel better.

I know exactly how you feel and I too have dropped them all because I was tired of feeling blah. This last time really bit my ass though. I was on cymbalta and depakote and I stopped it because the cymbalta had me hallucinating. Wrong answer! The drop has been awful, is still awful and that was last january. Hang in there and talk with the doc til you guys get it just right.

I hate my meds to even more now that sumthing isnt working! its kinda like what is the ponit! if im fucked up still..other then to keep messing up my body

You don\'t have to take so much. They always do that. Give you so much that you become a zombie. Your personality changes. I hate my meds too. We all do. It\'s our ball and chain. But what are the results if we go off all of them.

I say one anti-psychotic, one pill like klonipin for extra nasty days and that\'s it.

It took 5 years to get to this point. I\'m sure you will find the minimal cocktail for your needs.

Don\'t worry, this time will pass away and you will gain yourself back again. Just be your own advocate.
