I feel your pain. I am a recovering addict and alcoholic. I quit drinking when I got a DUI on Feb. 14, 2008, but kept drugging on legal drugs until I went to Detox and rehab this past June and July. I did alot of other drugs, too, but quit those a few years back. It's alot easier to justify abusing legal drugs to family, doctors, and co-workers and friends. Anyway, I just wanted to say I understand your frustration. Your brother has a disease and is sick. Believe me, I wanted to throttle my brother, who just called me pulled over from the side of the road saying he was about to get his 3rd DUI and I might need to bail him out of jail at 3am. I was so pissed, though he got out of it, lucky bastard. I would think after the 1st one he would learn his lesson, I sure did. But 2 didn't even do the trick. Listen, some are sicker than others. Thank God you are here, venting and asking for help, nad hopefully getting some. I am for my alcohohisim and addiciton, bi-polar, depression, anxiety disorder, PTSD, ADHD (new diagnosis:( ) Insomnia, And eating disorder. Is that crazy, or what. I am one crazy girl, but I am not using. Progress, not perfection! that's my new motto, and I'm sticking to it. Good luck.
We certainly weren't raised to be this fucked up but some how it turned out that way. My mom keeps blaming her self and I keep telling her that it has nothing to do with her.
My advice would be to stay off your brothers facebook page. Sometimes we dont need to know the stupid things they think and do and are willing to post for the public. I avoid going to my own kids profiles for that very reason.
You cant fix him, change him, reason with him, you can only love him where he is. Remove that stress, and you protect your own sanity. Stay out of the middle of things with your family or you will end up the enemy. xo
