I feel so stupid!

We won a 3 day 2 night stay in a hotel. I was so excited that I filled out the paperwork and mailed it in. I used my husbands cradit card for the $50 deposit. Then I thought about it after I had already sent it out, we don't have the money to go on vacation! Even though the hotel is free we would have to pay for gas (about $100 there and $100 back), food, etc. We are living on about $2,000 a month. There is no way we can go. So I started freaking out because I already sent the papers out with my husbands credit card info. I didn't want to pay the deposit knowing that we can't go because it's nonrefundable. So I did the only thing I could think to do, I called and cancelled my husbands credit card! I don't know what will happen now. I don't know if I did the right thing, or not. I don't know if they can get us in trouble for charging something to a cancelled card. I am scared and I feel like I am the stupidest person in the world!

Honey I'm new here but I had to tell you to go light on yourself. Yes, better said than done. It's just all part of second guessing yourself. We don't trust our own judgements because if you are like me you have gotten into some major messes. I'm proof of that. I just ended a 29 year marriage. I have regrets but at the end of the day I don't feel anymore loved than I did when I was married. You take care. Dereise.........

I think you did the right thing. I mean what were the circumstances of your winning? This could have been some sort of confidence scheme.

I'm not sure if your credit card is the same as my bank but if a standing order tries to take money out of my account and there are not enough funds in it then I get a large charge from the bank.

If you are keeping the credit card account and plan to issue a new card later there may be a charge but you need to pick up the phone and talk to them, tell them that you accidently charged something to that account after you cancelled the card ask them what will happen it may be nothing at all......

((HUGS)) u did something that u felt was right i think that u should tell hubby if he can be spoken to and tell him what was done and u just felt like u guys needed a vacation which is probably true we all do but the expense is a little too much no u are not the stupidest person in the world so don't think that.

If it would make you feel better I could start a list of my stupid things. Trust me...that wasn't bad at all. Sounds to me like it was one of those con things too that suck you right in cause it sounds so good. Believe me you are not the only one to go for one of those or they wouldn't be out there! :) Have you talked to the credit card people and has everything been settled?

There is no need to feel stupid. We have all done "something" that we thought better of later. That I know of, they cannot do anything to you for using a cc number that is cancelled. You did the only thing you could. This way, if it was a scam, they cant use the credit card for false charges either. I think you did the very best thing you could. I would have done the same thing.

That being said, ask yourself what you can learn here? There is always a lesson and all this wont be worth anything if you dont learn from it.

Now, its done and over with so you can let go of the stress of it. You are NOT stupid, you are actually smart. You realized the mistake before it was too late and you took action. Hugs
