I'm going downhill fast again. I keep thinking I could off myself easily now that I have Lithium..... an overdose of Lithium is fatal. My psychiatrist suggested that I apply for disability today and now I feel like she is giving up. How do I do this? I don't know how to do this. How do I go from being a confident mother of 3 who earned 60k a year to being completely alone getting $1400 a month in disability? I'll have to give up my house and file bankruptcy. I don't know if I can do this and I am all alone now all my kids are independent. I lose my health benefits on Dec 31 which means my daughter loses her Crohn's treatment. Fuck, I can't even be a good mom anymore. I'm disappointing everyone. I don't want to do this.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

I have gone through a lot of what you're describing to the point of not having a home at all and no possessions left
Another door opened... Another door always opens please just believe me for now until it opens for you
If you need to be on disability for now so be it!!... That means there's help for you
And one huge thing that I've found out going through losing all of my material things is that it's just stuff and in the grand scheme of things it really isn't important at all
Your daughter has several months to seek other help out there and from what I've seen people write on DS is that there's quite a bit of help available
You have kids who love you sweetie and you are so highly thought of here... Please hang on... If you're in crisis please call a line or go to emerg
Huge hug for you sweetie... You are in my prayers....xo
There is no shame in being on disability, no shame in not providing "everything" for others. It isn't fair that your life has to change so much and it is painful, but you can be strong through this. Stronger than you realize. Maybe this will be a time to reflect on your inner strength and realize that you don't have to be all/do all. There is still a lot of joy to feel and a lot of gifts you have to share. You are not changing "you", just the way you will live your life.
You are worth living and you are worth knowing who you are as a person. Your identity is not what you have or give, but who you are sweetie. Be kind to yourself and slow down, breathe, and take it one step at a time. xo
I would be very upset too if I was having to face all the changes that you are. It won't be easy but if you see the possibilities in all of the changes as an opportunity to do something different, it may be a smoother transition for you. There are answers and solutions for each change, I promise. xo
I haven't lost all my possessions, but I have gone from being a competent worker to not working at all. Eventually, I became able to work part-time for far less money than I was making in the corporate world. It sucks. Losing that sense of competency really sucks.
I agree with what Jan said. There is help out there. I think there's even help with health insurance in most states. I know there is where I live if you have a certain income level.
