Next week I have to move back in with my Mom. I know I should feel blessed that I have a "safe" place to go, but it doesn't really feel that way. I majorly overspent during the past couple of years and have had a really hard time keeping a job. The economy is really bad here and there aren't any jobs to apply for anyway. My Mom is very demanding and at the same times treats me like I am broken. It's a very difficult situation and I'm not sure how I am going to survive it. I was diagnosed last fall and my pdoc is still adjusting my meds and on top of everything I am battling suicidal thoughts. I don't have a plan or anything, just a general sense that it would be easier not to be here. I am probably being really unreasonable but it feels like being sent to a prison camp. I just don't need any more triggers and my Mom is a huge one for me. Sorry to dump all of this, I just have no idea how I am going to survive this...

I find myself going places in the car and not wanting to get out of the car. I come back home and I don't want to get out of the car. I think it's the only time I spend reflecting. Chronic tiredness from Long Covid plus the immunosupressing meds for my Crohn's is slowing me down but everything just seems a massive effort. I am dealing with the paperwork following my father's death but it's not...

Wow, it's the middle of the week already!Today is our 11 year anniversary, so we're going out to a nice dinner. I'm losing a lot of sleep these days, hence a wonky schedule and uncomfortable feelings. But I know it will pass, eventually.I hope all of you have a peaceful day, and may good things come your way!

I have to move in with my parents this weekend. Living with them is like living in the midst of WWIII. I'm finishing up my graduate degree and don't have a job yet. Grrr. My mom is one of my big triggers, too. Sometimes I just have to yell at her to STOP before she sends me off the deep end. I've got the suicidal thoughts, too...only I've got plans...yeah, lots of good plans running through my head. Only nobody wants to hear my crap. Whenever I try to reach out for help, I just get told "I don't want to hear this, Liz" so I just shut up. How hard is that? When you're suicidal and just told to shut up? It makes me want to scream! And I know I must sound like the worst daughter in the world....everybody tells me how moving back home to be with my "supportive" parents is a great thing. Yeah, really great. No, not really great. Oh, and you're my age. See? We do have a lot in common. Sorry, I'm not trying to hijack your thread or anything....Just want to let you know you're not alone. There is somebody out there in the same boat as you....(((HUGS)))
Obviously you need to be in a "safe place" while your meds are sorted out. Concentrate on that but maybe be thinking once you are straightened out and are probably more able to hold down a job (I know it's not an easy time right now)..and use your mom's as a base for finding a job and escaping from the prison camp.
Can you ask your mom to go to a few sessions with you?
I hope things get better for you soon.{{{{{HUGS}}}}}
Sympathy. Big hugs xx
From my perspective as a parent, I would say this. You need a "safe" place but for you, like my son, it is not a safe place unless you have an understanding when you move back home. The understanding has to run both ways because each side has challenges based on your moving back home.
You are trying to sort out your meds, get a job, and pay off debt. They are trying to "accept" that they may have failed you, changes in the dynamics of their home, and stress over you not being well.
Sit down and communicate very openly as soon as you get home. Actually, warn them that is what you want to do right away. Make a plan and stick to it.............The most important thing is to have no "expectation" on either side but a general set of rules. Something like, Respect each others privacy, define household rules, define personal space, share where you are emotionally and what you need from them to help your stability, define your goals and what you plan to do when you move in, ie. work on getting a job, getting your meds right, therapy, etc.
Since it goes both ways, they will or should have things they will require of you and you of them as far as how you live together and get along. Agree to disagree. Not all parents and adult children see eye to eye on certain matters. As an adult, you have a right to make your own decisions as long as they dont break the rules of the house, ie. parties, unhealthy friends, risky behavior.
I think you get the idea of what I am trying to say. My son and I have already begun talking about it and it is important that things are clear, otherwise there are no boundaries and everything is up for grabs which makes for a very volatile environement. Absolutely not safe for you or healthy.
It is important to make a plan for yourself. A personal plan of action to take care of you. Know everything you can about the disorder you are dealing with and the meds you are taking so you can help your parents understand. Make a plan of action and a plan for healthy living, ie. regular exercise, supplements, meditation, safety zone boundaries etc.
I wish you the best on your return home sweetie. Take care of you. Hugs
It's not a prison sentence, it's just a really bad time for everyone at the moment.
Normal people are moving back in with their parents.
This is one of the hardest economic times we will ever see in our life times.
Time to bunker down, sort out your finances, when times improve you will again be able to move out again.
Work out a frame work with your Mum so that you compromise stuff. Remember it's not easy for your parents either. they are doing this becasue they love you.
Best of luck
