My mother just told me to stop taking all of my meds... What the heck! She said I was happier when I wasn't on them. I guess she never noticed how much of an emotional WEAK I was. She used to be a therapist and is always talking to me like I'm her patient. She tells me I'm not bi-polar and it's all in my head and I use it as an excuse.
Just when I thought things were getting better for us. Sorry, I just need to let someone how I feel right now. I'm at a loss for words. My mom thinks I'm lying about being sick and she's the one who has literal hypochondria.
I want to punch something.

I find myself going places in the car and not wanting to get out of the car. I come back home and I don't want to get out of the car. I think it's the only time I spend reflecting. Chronic tiredness from Long Covid plus the immunosupressing meds for my Crohn's is slowing me down but everything just seems a massive effort. I am dealing with the paperwork following my father's death but it's not...

Wow, it's the middle of the week already!Today is our 11 year anniversary, so we're going out to a nice dinner. I'm losing a lot of sleep these days, hence a wonky schedule and uncomfortable feelings. But I know it will pass, eventually.I hope all of you have a peaceful day, and may good things come your way!

At the end of the day, your parents are people. Just as clueless, loving, blind, supportive, callous and caring as other people.
But they are still your parents at the end of the day so they are hard to ignore.
I've not solved it yet and I'm running out of time.
I'm still trying to work out children too.
you and only you know whats good for you, everyone has opinions, they are just that opinions...if they lived in our heads, minds would change.
My parents said the the same at the beginning of my last episode, like a dufus, i went off everything.....fast forward...ER with my parents and a guard under suicide watch....
I guess in some wierd way they learned a lesson, they recently found out i lost my coverage and crapped their pants,"SHE NEEDS HER MEDS!!!"
That was just my experience tho, but like i said, this is all about you, no one else...do your best for YOU
Really this is all part of extended learning. We discover our parents are not perfect at some point and sometimes we have to find ways of saying to ourselves, "yes you are my parent and I love you but you are not my doctor and you actually know less about me than you think"
That's not an easy thing to do. Even more difficult is to take that learning and put it into your relationships with your children if you have them.
I'm sorry to hear about your mother illness - sometimes again you have to be the parent.
Finally, please don't smoke. I buried a wife from lung cancer - a life cut short.
im sorry if i offend but your mom sounds hypocritical and in need of some help herself, regardless we love our parents, but they are human, and humans can be damaged. Take everything into consideration when it comes to her advice(you sound like you already are)
people dont realize the fallout from this disorder, shit, we gotta deal with the actual bipolar, then here comes the stigma and opinion bus!!!
Fish said some wise words, which I needed to hear!!!
I also run here when blindsided by parents! At least YOU see a positive difference with meds, that is a blessing right there! It's wonderful to have the board and my friends, to help detach from the stuff that comes out of my parents mouth!
OMG! Without cigs? They worst! Wishing you relief ASAP!
And yes, my mom is just sick and most of the time I can block it out when she's talking about herself... But when she lets it out on me it breaks my heart. I don't react to it anymore. I just said, "don't you remember me without my meds" and she said, "Yeah you were happy." I said "Did you not see how much of an emotional wreak I was?" she said "You've been on them so long I don't remember." GAH
Justletmebe, you said nothing but the truth, so no worries!
I would just say uh huh uh to you mom and dowhat you want.
I would fight her at all.
I went off my meds at around age 24 and went completely manic for the 2nd time in my life. It set me back a huge deal. Took forever to get "back" to feeling anything like my former self again. I hope for you that you are able to listen to your gut and your treators and do what's best for YOU not what your mother thinks. Good luck!
