Just having that wonderful energy of the hypo would be fantastic, I would never be in the house, I would be out visiting everyone, family, friends, shopping, socialising, doing the whole bit.
But here I sit in my pj's all day, doing nothing, smoking cigarettes, sleep, get up, go on computer, go back to bed, get up again, and so the cycle continues. Not good.
I envy you right now Fairy.
I had really let lots of things sit undone. In 2 days everything is taken care of. What's not to like?
Seriously though, I hear you silentnight. I have to be very careful while in hypomania. I have a tendency to step on toes, reveal private / inappropriate information to people. Blessedly, over- spending is not an issue. No credit cards or extra money.
I used to get hyper sexual and engage in dangerous behavior. Fortunately, we moved to a tiny town where that's not an option.
Another thing: I go crazy on the email, phone calls, and visiting people. I drive them crazy but they're too polite to call me on it. :0)
I talk on and on, jumping from one topic to another. It makes sense to no one but me.
I'm so glad my husband is a great judge of where I am in my mood cycle. He helps temper the hyperactivity.
I guess I'm relatively fortunate. My hypomanias last for about 4 days, but shorter is best. I up my depakote and take OTC sleep meds to end the hypomania quickly. If I go with out sleep for more than one night is is uncomfortable and I'm more likely to do wacky things.
I just view the hypomania as a red flag and nip it in the bud as fast as possible. It works on me the same way alcohol worked on me...it may feel good in the very very beginning but it's trouble with capital T.
I guess since it has (before the skills I learned and found the best meds I could) almost destroyed everything I loved for a number of years I don't find it fun. It's drive is so strong that it leads to destructive behaviors which leads to further destructive behaviors..and on and on and then I would be left with GUILT SHAME AND SERIOUS DEPRESSION to deal with in it's aftermath ( much due to my behavior and unwise actions that hurt myself and others). It's not a happy thing. It isn't normal or peaceful or content. I measure my happiness by the contentment in my life not by the flow of emotions that propell me up the dangerous bellcurve.
So while I understand maybe some people never have that problem I personally fear hypomania for what can happen if not dealt with as soon as possible.
