Lately I have had to hide my wallet from my daughter. She has been stealing from me a few times for about 3 months. She takes it to buy cocaine. The shock I felt when I found it in her room hurt me to my heart. The little girl who I took from her father when she was 6, the little girl who I tried to give as much as I could to compensate for her father not being with us...he had a drug and alcohol problem which destroyed our marriage...is using coke. She will be 20 in a few weeks. When I woke up this morning I noticed my car was not parked where i left it. I went to get my wallet and one hundred dollars was missing. At first she vehemently denied that she took it but, finally, admitted it. I flipped out on her. I am angry that she stole from me and hurt but more than that I am worried about her. I need help.

I am a recovering addict from pcp and cocaine. I didn't steal to use but I worked. Knowing that the addiction is the issue is heartfelt because you love her. Research recovery options that may be available to her and invite her to treatment. The addiction doesn't go away..and as an adult she has to volunteer. Im sorry to tell you but tough love is a mean and nasty job. My mom threatened to take my daughter from me to get help and it worked. My mom also taught me how to use law enforcement when needed if I became threatening to her. I truly pray for you daughter, it takes a strong person to admit they need help and thats the first start..she has to admit it is all her doing..

Tough love, my friend. You have to kick her out. I am a recovering addict and alcoholic. My hubby finally kicked me out last September and then I got real serious about my sobriety. He let me come back home once I proved I could stay clean. I am now one month shy of getting my year chip. I used for two years and I finally had enough.

Agree whole heartidly with poster #2. My mom gave me the boot at 15 and tho my meth addiction wasnt the only reason I am sure it played a part.

Your daughter is 20 sad to say its time to see if she sinks or swims. Chances are for while she will sink. Addicts have to hit rock bottom before they can proceede and what you percieve as the rock bottom she may not and slip further. Everys light bulb moment is different
