Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

1987, I was 28 years old and thought I was super woman. I had two full time jobs, bought a house and kept it nice and clean. Managed to go out after work and play pool or ;hook up (casual sex was big in the 80's.., .....
I thought I got spring fever every year - long hot days, hyper and full of energy and ideas.
Working 90 hours a week started getting old but I hung in there till one day I got a speeding ticket and crashed - went to bed for 3 days, barely got up to go to work, but I did..... (I miss working hard, being busy.
the next month I got one new job where I traveled and sold cable TV - LOVED it. I was on a beach in Florida reading Cosmo and saw a quiz "DO you have a chemical imbalance?"
The test results said RUN don't walk to pdoc! I found a good one and was dx Bipolar 2.
I work on being healthy, the best I can be - but I do miss Spring fever.
My therapist diagnosed me when I told him I was having racing thoughts that were driving me insane. He sent me to a pdoc then. It took years to get stable though. I am stable now and I'm 63. I've been stable for about 13 years, but feeling normal for 2 since I was put on Rexulti.
I was diagnosed at 18 after a diagnosis of depression and ptsd which led to antidepressants ……followed by a pretty obvious manic episode and stay in hospital.
After this my diagnosis has been very much untreated. Life got busy with raising a family oftern alone as my spouse worked away and with moving ALOT the diagnosis was pretty much forgotten about.
There were always ups and downs that I recognize now but nothing like when I was a youngster, for nearly 20 years and until 2 years ago.
I have since had 2 more diagnosis from separate psychiatrists. Have gone through some pretty big and traumatic life changes recently and find myself here. :)
I have just moved to a new area of the country, know zero people and apart from an awesome doctor so far no support system (waiting for a new psychiatrist referral and counselling to start aswell as meds to be right)
I have been reading some of the posts on here and feel a little less alone knowing I’m not the only one going through life like this. X
New to the forum. I was diagnosed at 17 with Bipolar 1, now about to turn 32 now. The time I was diagnosed I called to cops cause I haven't slept for couple of days, racing thoughts and was hallucinating. I was in high school, was sent to a Behavioral Facility for couple of months.
After 10 years of not having "symptoms", I worked for CPS and something triggered me to psychosis and I was then hospitalized back to back.. It has been 3 years since last hospitalization and I somewhat kinda feel stable. I also have been diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder.. I have anxiety attacks like 2-3 times a week.. not sure if it is still the mixture of my meds.
I feel less alone knowing I can go on here and read some of others posts!
Much love.. xoxo
I was 23 and taking 18 units at one college and 18 at the other. All was surprisingly well until it wasn't in addition to this I was also swimming 5 miles a day all of it was pretty crazy. In the end I was 5150'd here in California means an involuntary hospitalization. I was given Lithium which I hated and an ongoing appointment with a pdoc. Things eventually got sorted out by it took 10 years to do it...and a slew of hospitalizations!
I was 32.... I had been struggling with a depression and anxiety disorder for several years then
I eventually started seeing shadow people with paranoia along with several days and no sleep and I was diagnosed at that time with bipolar 2 in a mixed state
The diagnosis was too long coming and I was actually thankful for it.... I knew by that time what my diagnosis was and it was great to start treatment and to find stability... It took me a long time to find a med regime that would work but it was a beginning
I was working in Community Health at the time and I had to take a long break... Longer than needed really due to stigma..... xo
