Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
How much control do you feel you have with bipolar and all it entails? Like is there any way I could have helped myself get more than 3 hours sleep per day? I felt rested and alert so I don't think more was needed tho. But like tonight i have to get at least 6 hours sleep. I think with the haldol, seroquel, lamictal, buspar, topamax and zopicline I shouldn't be awake at 5am. Its just gone midnight tho, but I do feel a little tired so might try and go to bed soon
Its the same with appetite. I simply can't eat if I am not hungry. My therapist gave me the bright idea of buying pre packed salads which is what I do. I can't recall the last time I cooked. So I don't feel I have any control with my appetite at all
I can't really control how I am reacting face toface with people atm. The more I am around people the more buzzed and energised I feel andvthen it just gets way out of hand
I've just remembered I'm symptomatic, so I am losing control and not maintaining it :-(
Be interested in your views tho

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

I rely on my meds to sleep and stay sane. If I wasn't on meds I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between reality.
Have you ever talked to your Dr. about the way meds can stop working and reverse when you've been on them so long? As in they may be making you awake and active instead of making you sleepy? With the mix you're on you should be knocked out 30 min. after you take them. I have a Circadian Rhythm Sleep Disorder, which means my Internal Clock doesn't react to light and dark, it doesn't make my brain sleepy when it should. Like you I have to take a tons of meds to force my body sleep, and I only sleep for 3.5 - 4 hrs. per night. To sleep I take 15 mg. of Melatonin, 30 mgs. of Ambien, 2 mgs of Klonopin, and 20 mgs of Vistaril. If I miss those meds, I don't sleep at all, I just sit up all night. I'm also on pretty high doses of Narcotics for medical illnesses/pain issues which would usually knock people out, but the jack me up. It might be something to ask your Dr. about. Might need to take a break from some of them and let your brain re-boot.
Eating, can't help much with that. I hate food, can't stand it and only eat because they make me. I live on Greek Yogurt and Apples. I don't have an eating disorder, I'm just an incredibly picky eater, and really do not like most food and it brings me no joy...to me it's just fuel.
The more stable I am, the better I can control my actions. And since I Manage people at work I have to be able to control my emotions and mannerisms. If I feel really off, I work from home and don't go to the office that day. But I stay pretty stable these days. I don't spend time with many people outside of work. When I leave on Thursday evening, I don't go back until Monday Morning, and there are weekends I never get out of my PJ's. Most of the time people just wear me out and I don't want to deal with them.
I hope your feeling better these days.
Ruby, I get that no appetite thing too and I think it's important to prepare some stuff in advance so you can just grab something quickly when you are feeling too overwhelmed to cook. Also the sleep thing is huge. I am seeing my psychiatrist Friday to get an increase in meds and talk about my ptsd postpartum stuff, it's just that I wish I had someone supportive to go with me as I simultaneously end my marriage.
Sorry, I didn't mean to dwell on my problems to minimize yours. I just share these things cause women aren't allowed to talk about their complex bodies in a natural way. Shall we blame the patriarchy?
