How do you deal with being lonely?

I don't know if anyone else out there in Bipolar land has had this experience, but here goes. I am a very outgoing person that everyone seems to like, say that I should do stand up comedy and such, but I seem to alienate them which equals no real friends. I do have to admit though, that I am a busy person so I don't have a lot of time for invites or such. Is being Bipolar something that alienates people? I hope not because I don't have a problem with it! Thoughts?

It can, but doesn't necessarily mean it has to, or that bipolar 100% defines you. I tend to alienate myself from others, but then I wish I would have people around. Or I have people around and I feel all alone.

It is basically all of out problems. Most beepers are highly inteligent and it is difficult...............sooooooooooo..just wait for the right one....I know it sounds boring but spiritual work helps........and paid prostitute........:)

Some of our quirks are BP and some are just us, or anyplace in between. Not all BPs are the same. I know BPs who have lots of friends and successful marriages so it must just be me!

When I was a teen and in my early 20's, I alienated many people with my strong personality. I always had a need to be right and stand firm in my beliefs. I am much different now and I handle myself differently with others. I have alot of good friends who I get along with very well and who understand my disorder. I think its most important to nurture your true self and find coping skills for learned behaviors and manifestations that dont fare well with relationships. It has worked very well for me.

I don't know if it is a bipolar thing...but I don't connect with people in "real-life" all that well. I seem to be well liked also...but nothing sticks.It does bother me...but I have surrendered to the idea that I am not good friend material. Oh well.I have come to prefer being alone.Yeah...I think it could have something to do with being bipolar.

Before the dx I was an extremely busy, busy person, carreer, friends, charity work.

Those were my Hypomania days. Now I have to push myself to go over my neighbors house, but once I am there my mood progresses.

Right now my mood is stable. I do miss those bizz buzz days sometimes but not the psychosis, so I stay on my meds. Hugs

I tend to build up a really great friend network (which takes a lot of effort for me because I find making new friends really hard)... and then I go through a depression and I'm left with none or one.

This place has helped me alot. My friends on here don't ditch me when I'm depressed. I go to DS when I'm lonely.

Fortunately I've had a good run and am doing well with friends at the moment :)

    I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

    I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
