I always thought that I coped pretty well in stressful situations considering I'm a beeper and don't cope with much very well, but when it comes to death I react differently.
Just tonight I was writing about my daughter's death ten years ago and realised I hadn't let go of her fully. I still think about her weekly and cry every time I hear a certain song or catch a certain scent floating by.
How do you cope with death? Do you face it head on or shut it away until you're ready to deal with it?

I find myself going places in the car and not wanting to get out of the car. I come back home and I don't want to get out of the car. I think it's the only time I spend reflecting. Chronic tiredness from Long Covid plus the immunosupressing meds for my Crohn's is slowing me down but everything just seems a massive effort. I am dealing with the paperwork following my father's death but it's not...

Wow, it's the middle of the week already!Today is our 11 year anniversary, so we're going out to a nice dinner. I'm losing a lot of sleep these days, hence a wonky schedule and uncomfortable feelings. But I know it will pass, eventually.I hope all of you have a peaceful day, and may good things come your way!

In all those cases, you go through the "grief proces" - the one with the 4 or 5 stages, depending on which person's description you are referring to.
The stages are,
1)shock and denial
2)bargaining
3)anger
4) depression
5)acceptance
everyone goes through these phases, sometimes several times, in the processing of their grief from loss. They go through it in thier own way, their own time, and their own order. Sometimes, two phases at once, etc. But in order to completely resolve the feelings and heal, you have to go through all of them at some point.
If you feel stuck in any one of them, or need help getting through, a grief therapist can help you do that. They speicalize in helping people work through their grief.
I wait until I'm ready to handle it.

This is interesting starfish...i'e seen it before and always forget what they are.
You know, it makes me realize I never came out of the depression of my brothers death.
He was a step...so I kind of was in love with him also, and he me....but we never acted on it. Now I wish I had.
I lost my best friend at 16..she was murdered. I have never got over it. Every April 13th I used to put flowers on her grave. I didn't do it this year as we were not in England. It really hurt not to do it.
I still miss her everyday and rail at the unfairness in life. 16 and no life.
I don't copw with death. It overwhelms me.
It destroys me. It scares me. It defeats me.
as to other peoples deaths, i will go to a wake but not a funeral, i just cant deal! i dont cry, its like i have no emotions! maybe its a piece of mind knowing they go to heaven to await the rapture. idk! but i just dont deal with death well at all!
I just stumble through as best I can.
