House is one of my favorite TV shows. Clever writing, interesting actors, intelligent plots and you can learn about various diseases too. I'll take a genius, smart ass doctor over and lovable dumb as a box of rocks doctor any day.

Hugh Laurie, House himself, has bipolar. Couldn't believe that tidbit of info when I learned it. He was one of my favorite actors before and now, even more so.

I am working my way threw the first season now I just finished one where a 12 year old boy had lepercy. It was pretty good.

A cantankerous misanthrope with a black sense of humour? What's not to love? Some great lines cracked on this series, I just wish the writer's didn't hang each episode on such a repetitive formula.

Read somewhere that House's character is based on Sherlock Holmes, which fits with the addiction & everything.

Do you hearwhatIhear -- the actor himself has bipolar. I stumbled upon it when I was doing some research for work. Also the program, House, worked with NAMI national recently doing a fundraiser by raffling off many "house" tshirts and other memorabilia. I checked the article closely but he didn't disclose on the article. I should try to find that reference.

Way down at the bottom of this page under trivia is a quick one liner about his life long battle with bipolar. This isn't the reference I found originally, but I'm glad it's confirmed. With so few people knowing it, I wanted to be sure I was sharing accurate information.

I love House, he's definitely my hero.

i watch house.. and greys anatomy. i haven't seen doctors in real life that were anything like them on tv.

House is one of my favorite shows also. It is supposed to come back this fall, but I think it is going to get old watching him verbally abuse everyone and then magically fix everything under the sun.

It you like doctor shows, with a twisted sense of bedside behavior it is the show for you.
