I would work really hard on taking suicide off of the table as an option..... It's really important to recognize our symptoms..... That doesn't mean we should act on them though just that we're recognizing that we're having them and that we need more help during these times
I personally work very hard on this and it's made a huge difference in my life
I also have looked at it as how would I feel if my loved one whomever mom or niece committed suicide.... would I be able to go on and what would my life be like if this happened..... I would have been devastated....
This is what those who care for us would have to live with so I think we owe it to them to do the best we can to work at finding stability and we can do that.....We have a treatable disorder
I try to look at signs and symptoms as simply that.... I work at looking at these things in a pretty pragmatic way
There is healing Kisses..... We may go back and forth at times however our disorder is treatable..... Please hang onto that...... Big hug.......xo
Therapists are human, mere mortals like everyone else and they make mistakes, they quit when they shouldn't, young new ones, bright and shiny like a new penny don't always understand the damage it does to drop a patient, when they feel they've failed and can no longer help that person get better. Then there are the ones who have been doing it forever and just can't handle losing another patient...because this isn't just losing a patient to another Dr. or practice, no, we're talking about life and death here, when Pdocs and Therapists lose patients its usually because they've died. A good deal of the time its because they've taken their own life. Try to comprehend for just a moment how that would be to have as your job, every day. The average Therapist sees a patient roster of 25 - 40 patients at a time, the average Pdoc in private practice has a patient roster of 30-75 at a time for management care. Think of how many human lives those Dr.'s carry in their hands each day, how many people they are expected to make better....
It was not right of your former Therapist to dismiss you, it was so utterly wrong, unfortunately it happens all the time, because some just can't handle that much "almost death". I am so glad that you were honest with your current Therapist, because honesty is the basis of that relationship and if its not there, it doesn't work.
Now here's a theory I'd like you to consider....
Do you ever think of why you've not successfully completed suicide from all those try's? I have 5 attempts under my belt, the last one in 2010. I woke up in that ER, realized I was not where I'd planned on being, and the same question popped in my head as the other 4 times, "what the hell do I tell my sons...." then I got pissed, I'd done this 5 times, now and I had a medical background I knew how to do it, I was angry that I was awake in that damn hospital, yet again. So I do what I always do when I got home 3 weeks later...put my brain to work and started studying and researching and this is what I come up with between medical research and the bible and some other religious type studies. If your brain, your body, your soul doesn't want to die, if its not "your time" it doesn't work, you wake up and all you've done is made yourself a lil sicker, made your family a lot more scared and just made things generally worse. If you look at all these people that try suicide and the few who actually succeed the percentage is pretty low. So at some point you have to say, this isn't working and put the energy your putting into escaping this life back into living this life.
well that's what I come up with anyways.
Good luck on your new therapy Kisses and I really hope that you choose to put your energy into living life.
