Holiday Spirit

I am really having trouble getting into the holiday spirit this year. I find myself just wishing that the holidays were over and done with. There are 2 main things that are going on in my life that have a put a damper on the holiday spirit. My mom is sick and the doctors still have no idea why. Then my daughter (who has bipolar) is not doing well. Pdoc cannot find the right combo of meds for her.

I have 7 kids so I need to find a way to get into the holiday spirit for them. I would appreciate any suggestions on how to get into the spirit of the holidays.

I think of the Holiday Season as a time of love and renewal and hope, not in a religious sense but in the sense of humankind.
Enjoy what you can and forget the rest.

Well, first off - DON'T go out on Black Friday if you can help it! It's a madhouse at the malls and stores - I presume, I've never actually gone out shopping but my husband reports back to me. Maybe encourage some at home arts & crafts holiday projects - making cards for people or making ornaments. Some art supply stores sell ornaments meant to be decorated at home -- could keep the spirit up! I'm having a hard time this year too but hopefully Thanksgiving will go as usual (family dinner) and not too much drama! Happy holidays!

Friday is the 24th Anniversary of my Father's Murder during the 'Troubles' and this time 6 Years ago my Mum was facing certain death. (she died on 28 January 2008) So Christmas is bitter sweet for me.

I know a Psycho Woman with 6 kids who said, "I don't wanna hear the f**kin' word!" (Her Husband committed suicide on 1st July 2010 and one of her Brother-in-laws attacked her Son, the other 5 kids are Girls) It's like the Hatfield/McCoy dispute at times. *Insert dueling banjo music here*
