Try putting a tablespoon of sugar under your tongue. Or a sugar cube, if you have one...
Try drinking a shot of lemon juice or drinking a glass of water with your head tipped upside down. Most times either one works for me. xo
Clean your ears. You may want to use an ear wash or just some hydrogen peroxide. You may even just want to use a Q-tip to lightly clean the ear.
I know I probably sound absolutely crazy, but if you have a hair or ear wax touching your eardrum, the auricular branch of the Vegus nerve (which communicates sensory information about the body to the CNS or brain) can cause a reaction known as the Arnold Reflex or Ear-Cough or Ear-Hiccup Reflex.
My ENT calls me an URN aka Upper Respiratory Nightmare. So my re-occurring sinus infections, ear infections, Acute Tracheo-bronchitis, coughs and hiccups have made me a quasi-diagnostician . . . from the mouth of my ENT to me to you. It works.
