Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
You do sound like you are wanting to find help...that's good.
But get a referal to see a Phyciatrist, get a professional DX.
As scary as that seems...actually seeing a Pdoc, and getting a true diangosis..is a real relief. Then you can know what is going on,and get the treatment you are seeking.
Good luck
There are meds, once you are properly diagnosed, that can help you, and counseling is important too.
The counseling part is very important, esp. since you say you were abused when you were young, and that you can't tell people. You need to find a therapist you can open up to.
And don't jump to conclutions and say she's trying to diagnose herself. I didn't see it in that post.
It hurts when people say you're trying to diagnose yourself when really you just want to figure out how other people wiht the same symptoms deal with it.
I also used to want to bite the throats out of people when I was around 12 or 13 years old. I never did but I think it was the sound of bipolar disorder approaching.
Have you told your doctor all this?
Some of the mental illneses are a lot alike but differ in big ways, if that makes any sense... sounds like you do need to be on some sort of meds...and for being ashamed this is the biggest thing you don't have to be afraid of being... you are facing this head on and that;s a start.. proud of you.. good luck!!!
