Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

This is a good group.... I'm glad that you've found us.... Big hug.....xo
I don't know what your symptoms are, or what kind of Dr. you went to for a BiPolar Diagnosis, but I have to say that it's awfully hard to Diagnose a 13 year old with BiPolar. At 13 the parts of your brain that are responsible for the chemical imbalance that causes BiPolar Disorder are not fully formed yet. Your brain does not completely form until between 18-20 for most people.
There are other Mental Issues that can have the same symptoms as BiPolar, such as ADD, Self-Injury and Teen Uni-Polar Depression and Anxiety Disorders. Did you get a 2nd opinion on your Diagnosis? Do you see a Therapist regularly for Talk Therapy and do you see a Pdoc (Psychiatrist) regularly for medication management?
There are Teen Depression, ADD and Anxiety Boards on DS that may help you relate better with kids your own age. This Board is mostly adults and my concern is that people don't always take into account the age of the person they're talking to....and many times the advice you give to an adult is not appropriate for a 13 year old. Also topics posted here and discussions had often are not appropriate for a 13 year old.
I'm not trying to run you off, so please don't take it that way, I just have concerns of you getting inappropriate information, not on purpose but inadvertently because someone doesn't take into account your age.
At the top of the page in the "hunter green bar" you should see a tab called Journal. If you click on that you can write Journals about whatever you want and people can reply to them, that's a little more controlled.
Take care,
Kat
