I am doing physical therapy for my surgery I recently had, and it's like having a personal trainer geared towards me specifically and I am absolutely loving these at home exercises tailored for my needs. It's the first time I've ever done any physical therapy. A personal trainer is too expensive for a lot of us, but do any of you have successful exercise regimes that help with effects of BP?
I've done yoga in the past which is good anxiety relief and I walk a lot, but sometimes I walk too much and it aggravates my anxiety and anger....
It's hard to get motivated to exercise when the depression is hitting so low (or the meds make us lethargic) but it's such a good thing for us to be in the habit of doing. Should we make a Workout for Beepers and put it on youtube? Haha.
No but seriously, what role does exercise play in your treatment and recovery?

Mom and I have errands to run this morning. She said we can get sushi for lunch though. I go back to work today. What are you looking forward to this weekend?

Quick, before the evil MONday gets here! Let's climb those mountains, dance in the meadows, dip our feet in the ocean....Okay, so most of us won't be doing any of That. Sadly. But today can still be a great day!The area behind our back fence is on an incline, with less than two feet on even ground at the top. I don't balance well enough for the incline, but our mower guy mows that...

And, of course, that meditation-type thing that I do helps - that's not really exercise but just as helpful as yoga (I get cranky when I don't do meditation too)

Low impact , starts at a 1 mile walking program, you can work up to a 5 or 6 mile program.
Even though it's a TV video, it really gets your heart pumping and I lost a bit of weight while doing her program....one of our members lost over 50 pounds ! My sister lost 60 pounds !
Door, do you ever do meditation with a group, or your own?
Tommy, walking is good stuff. I've been thinking hiking would be great too, but I'd have to travel to do that.
Free now, when I see your avatar I think oooh, swinging on a swing seems like a good exercise!! I hope you are feeling better soon too. (((Hugs))))
Sadie, it's great you're working with a trainer. I don't think I could deal with a bully trainer....I need a delicate approach...haha.
It's all about finding a good balance of exercising, and the right kind. Every part of this illness is a balancing act. It is my wish that everyone in this group finds the right combo of everything to feel a bit better each day.
Yoga is soothing for me. I imagine it is stretching me thin. It really does make me stand taller and move more gracefully.
Keep up the good work.
