I see plenty of things I wish I would have added to my post for new members, so i got to thinking about something everyone could do.
What if when some one comes up with an idea that they want the newbies to see, they make a post called "New member tip" and put there idea in there? Tips on everything from how to use certain DS functions to community slang.

I think it's easier to let them ask the questions....I usually try to tell them to just ask, when they announce themselves as a new member....but no harm in making those posts, either. I am sure it makes them feel more welcome, especially if they are new to using message boards. Good idea!!

I like it too. Sometimes though it is good to just have them ask questions but we do have our own DS/BP lingo lol

Well, I'm not discouraging anyone asking anything... but as Star points out, sometimes you dont even know how to begin to ask a question about something. I merely think it would be nice to preempt a question that they want to ask but don't know how, or even a question they hadn't thought of yet. I'm not saying we flood the board with "Helpful member tips" or anything.

I think it is a good Idea. I see tips on other boards posted by the moderators, but since we don't see much of them.... (they don't like to visit us much for some reason) I don't see a problem with people writing tips. I usually will read them first when I go to a new board or join a new forum. It is helpful. I think you are just trying to be helpful (: I think it would be neat to have a new member tip section.

I know when I joined, I was clueless. I didn't introduce myself which now makes me kinda feel like a retard. I have never been on a site such as this. I really just felt that it was so broad that I would be invisible. It would have helped to get info in the beginning. I would have been much more comfortable. Chugg, I think your ideas and suggestions are great.
