Hi, I have Bipolar Disorder and my girlfriend has her own psychological challenges that have not been diagnosed yet. She, at this moment, is very depressed, but won't call her therapist. This burden is becoming to much on me, but I can't get her to call him. I have considered calling him myself and asking him to call her, but I do not know if this is a good idea. She is 17 and really needs to talk to a professional. Any suggestions? Thank you.

I'd offer encouragement to your girlfriend but she needs to understand that it's important to take care of herself by contacting her doc. I don't think it'd work out very well if you got directly involved with contacting her therp. It's a learning experience for all of us.

Can you talk to her parents?
When my daughter was 14 she tried suicide. Luckily it was a failed attempt. I wish one of her friends had talk to me.
Just saying, it might be a good idea.

Do you have a distress line in your city? You might call them, and they might be able to give you some advice on what you can proactively do to help your girlfriend. I think it is great that you care about her, and are trying to help her. Be there for her, but remember that we can't change anyone, just God.

You just keep calmed. Stay there with her.
Try to do your best, any of the choices you mention and others have add are reasonable and may work (and may not).
But the most important thing that you can do and only depends on you is stand by her. giving her your support.

That is a tough call, maybe you should call your doc and go into the hosp for a break especially if her depression is getting to be too tough on you. Maybe that would get the message across to her that her selfishness doesn't effect just herself, it effects you also, and that adversely... then you both can get some help and be the better for it and stronger too.

Just an idea, I'm not a doc or anything, but if she does love you then maybe it might get her attention and she may become receptive to help that way....

Take her to a regular doc if you can? That sounds awfully tough, sympathy :(
