Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

Ever since I was a kid I've had these great ideas that I just had to work on. And I would for a little while. Then I'd move on to the next great idea. Nowadays I still have some great ideas but I'm seeing them through. That's the problem. I have too many things going right now and i don't know how to stop. Here are my current projects in no particular order:
1) I'm working on a book of poetry. I've got 40-45 poems finished out of the 75 I want to have to publish it. The number I have finished varies by how I feel about them.
2) I'm working on an author website for myself. I have a small Kindle book published on Amazon and my book of poetry will be a Kindle book too. So I need something to promote myself.
3) I'm working on a website for my extended family. It's kind of a virtual family reunion with forums and a gallery among other things.
4) I just started a blog about my experiences and thoughts regarding religion. I plan to post every Monday.
5) I have a website with tips and tricks for a game I love to play.
6) I'm working on a website that I'm hoping will be a hub for telling people how to craft items in various games.
7) I'd love to be the webmaster for the software company i used to work for. I'd be doing this from home.
8) I'm strongly considering being a freelance webmaster. I'm just about to look into how i go about this.
9) As far as websites go I'm trying to brush up on HTML5, CSS3, PHP7, and possibly MySQL.
And if you act right now I'll throw in the fact that I sing at church once a month so I practice every day, I'd love to get back into PaintShop Pro (a Photoshop-type program) seriously, and I'm considering starting to teach myself C# (a programming language) again.
All of these have captured my imagination. All of them I'd love to see come to fruition. All of them I believe I can accomplish and do very well with. All of them are too much for one person to do in a lifetime.
I need help folks. I don't even know what I need help with but I know I can't possibly do all of these at the same time. I mean, how do I choose what to do now and what to do in the future? They're all favorite pet projects. I'm afraid that if I put one on hold I won't ever get back to it. That was my old pattern.
I would really appreciate any thoughts you have on this.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

The fact that you can't stop?... can't slow down sounds like you're on the high side?
What about some relaxation techniques like Mindfulness or just plain meditation?
There are times that I have plenty of things in my mind and I want everything to be done but sometimes it’s impossible to accomplish at the same time so I just prioritize which one is the most important.
I made a schedule on the night before then before I start my day, I do some exercise because according to research exercise makes us think better and more productive. A 10-minute Zumba makes me awake and prepared for the things I need to do for the day.
Thank you for sharing. Please keep us posted. God bless.
I, like others, have loads more creative work I’d love to accomplish outside of work, but unfortunately my self-care once work is done has me just focusing on rest... and sadly, I don’t aspire to complete the creative projects due to the fact that I will become manic..........
It’s disappointing but it’s my reality. Sometimes a creative project can be part of self care unwinding, but with no deadlines or pressure on myself to complete.
Thanks for the replies all. Rereading my original post I realized I wasn't clear. Nothing here is mission critical. So I don't know how to prioritize them. Does anybody know of any good reference material that will help me learn how to do that?
In a mixed state there is often a great deal of anger.... Do you experience that?
It almost sounds more like rapid cycling to me?
It reads like some of the things are things that you'd love to do but haven't started yet
So what about thinking of prioritizing the things that you're already working on
And dropping the others into a to do in the future box
No, I'm not experiencing any more anger than anyone else. I used to have terrible anger problems and angry dreams but I haven't experienced either for a number of years now.
Before I started having mixed episodes I was a rapid cycler. I'd cycle from mania to depression back to mania again every 2 to 3 months. If this is rapid cycling then it's NASCAR fast.
Prioritizing like that is probably a good idea. I'm a writer and webmaster at heart so I'll work on my book of poetry and becoming a freelance webmaster. Everything else can either wait or I can do some of them in my spare time.
We all experience things in our own ways and although there are common symptoms we can all experience things a little differently... It's great that you have a good rapport with your pdoc....and if you and he don't think it's a problem that's what counts....
I was really wound up on Lamictal and basically stopped sleeping... Maybe that's partially where all of the energy is coming from ???
I really liked it but I had to stop it due to a side effect.... xo
Even weirder, sleeping pills don't help me sleep. They may as well be Tic Tacs for all the good they do me. Three hours later and not even a yawn. I think my brain got wired backwards there lol.
