Hi everyone. I am a college sophomore and pretty recently diagnosed. I feel as though now that I know that the symptoms I have been experiencing have been mental illness, I am trying to go easier on myself, but it's so hard. I used to beat myself up over the mood swings because I had no control over them and it frustrated me a lot. That being said, I have been trying to be easy on myself. I started Latuda a week ago and it has yet to kick in. I have major tests coming up, and it's been really hard for me to focus and study. I've been trying to be nice to myself and not get frustrated about not being able to properly study, but it's been so bad recently. I feel like when I am hypomanic, I do everything except for study because I would much rather go food shopping or walk around and attempt to get the energy out so it doesn't boil up and I explode. The other day I attempted to study and had a breakdown and had to do grounding techniques for the rest of the night because my mind was so loud and overwhelming. And then when I am experiencing a low point, I just want to stay in bed and do nothing. Do any of you have techniques or advice? I am at a loss and just want to be able to be a good student.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

I was in college a long long time ago before there were rarely any discussions at all. It was a struggle because I was being treated for depression and insomnia and it was years later I finally got a bp diagnosis.
For now, sometimes classical music helps me to concentrate. Having good sleep hygiene and going to bed at the same time each night.
Wishing you well. Take care.
