Westley, welcome, are you going to get a proper diagnosis? Bipolar is one of those things that tends to get worse over time so it's best to get a diagnosis and treatment

I agree with SunCloud and acuriousfish. It's very important to know if you really have it. Self-diagnosis is a dangerous thing. Have you talked to your wife about what you've learned? I've found that letting my family help me when I am in crisis or even just not quite on an even keel helps me to realize that I still need help after almost 21 years of knowing I have the disorder. It's wonderful that you found DS. There are a lot of cool people on the site ready to help and to answer any questions you may have. And SunCloud is right about posting under "general bipolar". It is best to talk with your primary care provider about what's been happening with you and to get into treatment--medications and individual therapy help me. It may take a while to get the right combination of meds for you, but don't give up and don't stop taking them without the doctor's consent. Have a blessed day in Jesus!! :) Hugs!

I have an appointment with the VA doctor the 5th of MAY, and I am going to try to see what they say about it. I just think it is a misdiagnosis myself. Because I have family members who have bipolar, and not Schizophrenia

I don't see general bipolar. I have been talking to a doctor about and they do think that it is a misdiagnosis, but I have to go to see the doctor on the 5th of May to make sure what the psychiatrist say about it.

if so research has shown they seem to be genetically related - families with bipolar also have schizophrenia and vice versa. There is schizophrenia on both sides of my family tree.

A curious fish - Really the diagnosis is schizoaffective disorder, but have psychotic features. And I really don't have schizophrenia in my family history. I have a lot of bipolar people in my family though
