I think you might want to talk to your doctors about these visions. They sound like haluciations and can be cured.Good luck.

hallucinations are experienced...

you can can find out what causes them and work from there... but i think your right... the sleep deprivation is assisting the cause... time to go see the doctor... for sure... your getting caught up in the experience as real ...
and its just an aspect of you psych tripping off ..from an imbalance in the body' neurological system...its really more complicated than that ... thats why you need help right away... if you get caught up in the psychosis of it ...you could be capable of doing things you cant take back later...

i see this post as a warning sign and reaching out for help...
more than just asking about the hat man... i think you are telling us as best you know how.... that you are having a hard time with this and you are ready for intervention...

I don't believe in what I saw but I still saw it.

I"m fine now any how. I only saw it for a few seconds after I woke up so it's not a big deal. Some times that happens. You think you see something that's not there.
Since shadow people are a very commonly seen hallucination I was wondering if any one has seen hat man also? Or if I'm just a freak seeing shadow man with a wide rimmed hat?

I don't need to go to the doctor over every little thing I see or hear as there is nothing they can do about it. As long as it isn't causing any problems it's fine. And I know what's real and what is a hallucination.

(I can't have anti psychotics as I have a deadly form of dystonia that effects my throat. I'd stop breathing when my throat closes. So yeah I have to just deal with it)

Shadow People are seen commonly by BP people ...also "normies".

The Hat Man , I've seen it a few times in my life.
Never when I was having an episode, and YEARS before I was DXed and displayed symptoms of BP

I've seen 'shadow people' as well but it's when I've been sick.. They've jumped out at me... Don't know the hat man though...x

i've seen both - shadow people & hatted shadow people. my belief is that shadow people are residual spirits just like ghosts. if the person wore a hat in their life, they may very well represent themselves as wearing a hat after death. hence, hatted shadow people.

i do know that there are other interpretations of shadow people, tho.

i love being wrong in situations like this.... yaaaaaa

I've never seen one wearing a hat before.

That seems to make sense I guess I don't pretend to know. I just know that it struck me as weird so I decided to google it. I was just curious about it since I've never heard of it before and I've seen a lot of shadow people that was the first with a hat.

I shouldn't be surprised I saw it. I've been seeing movement and shadows out of the corner of my eyes and some times dead center but it's very fast. I've been dismissing it as sleep troubles. that's usually the precursor to a full on shadow figure.


It still freaky no matter how many times I've seen it. And I live alone.

again, my belief here - but i know BPers are extra sensitive to alot of things, and that our awareness of things can be heightened beyond what is normal for people at times - sooo, it would not surprise me if we were at times sensitive enough or aware enough to see things like ghosts & shadow people.

it may not be the case - they could ALL be hallucinations, but i just think its possible.

Could someone please explain to me what are "shadow people"?

I used to see shadow people during storms when I was little. Later on, I got glasses, but my dad is part Cherokee and he *sees* stuff.

Mostly, I'd say though, that shadow people are of the imagination.

A friend of mine *sees* angels and claims to have seen the feet of Jesus (which she says are very tan/bronze).

Although she's probably just kidding around, I would like to think that she has seen angels and the feet of JC. That would be cool.

I hear stuff and feel stuff and that's it. No seeing stuff, just a couple of very weak hallucinations. Quite boring in the paranormal in my life.

shadow people appear like a person would accept that they are a shadow and you can't see any features other than their out line.

having bi polar though makes it more likely that they are just hallucinations all though normal people claim to have seen them too.

In the dark they are pitch black.

Ewww, weird. When my son was real young, he saw a hat man.

Going back a few years, when we moved into our home, my husband and I were painting, and we had no furniture in the living room, and no carpeting yet. Clear as a bell, we heard footsteps walk across the floor. Absolutely no question that it was footsteps. My husband and I both clearly heard them. We have no other houses near us.

Our home was built to be a train station years and years earlier.

Soooo, when I asked my son if the man with the hat was walking, he said "No. He was flying." (It really creeped me out, but I didn't react to it in front of him. A couple of years later, he brought it up to me again on his own, and he told me that the hat was like a magician's hat. I kinda put it together in my mind that perhaps it was a top hat. (I've never talked about it in front of him.....even still.) There's more that he saw when he was little, but that's for another time.......
