by caffeine? I was feeling like crap earlier and then I drank a TON of it because I was really tired. Apparently that was a bad idea because I can feel myself swinging up. My pdoc listed a lot of things that I should avoid but she never mentioned it as an issue. I don't know if this should have been in treatments, but I was just wondering. Thanks!

My old pdoc wanted me to avoid it- especially in large amounts. No more than about a cup (8 oz) of coffee a day. It can make everyone jittery and edgy- not just us- but I guess there is some thought that we might be more sensitive to it. Also, if you take lithium, you are supposed to be careful with things that can dehydrate you like caffeine.

Caffeine does not help me...Unless i drink a lot of it at night

YES!! I drank a ton one time studying for an exam, which lead to full on hypomania, anxiety and insomnia....lasted for almost a whole month. Total nightmare. I, (unhappily) drink decaf now;)

Maybe its not the caffiene.... I feel like I'm going about a thousand miles an hour all of the sudden. Like super hypomanic. It feels great but I know I'm in trouble. Took a klonopin to try to slow it down... hopefully that works. I have seroquel too prn for sleep...maybe I should take that too? If I still feel like this when my pdoc's office opens tomorrow I'm definitely calling...

I ate 2 packs of Peeps last Easter and I was bouncing off the walls so sugar does it....I don't ever have caffeine

I am very careful with my coffee intake. Actually I will be damned if I pay $4 for a cup of joe. Hold it I gotta chug my diet Coke, I am only on my 5th one for the day.

If I have too much I feel like crap and feel anxious and my heart races... A little caffeine and I feel more focused and kind of calm and awake, kind of weird like that. I will occasionally take Caffeine pills, but like maybe one a day if that if I am having issues with hypersomnia - one equals two cups of Coffee... I am not a huge caffeine addict though and can go without. I do not notice any difference with my moods really, other than anxiety if I take too much...

From what I've seen, we're more sensitive to any sort of stimulant - caffeine, sugar, etc. Most of the time I have no problem with caffeine. Then, when I'm on an upswing, caffeine makes me extremely hyper. It's a pretty miserable feeling, getting manicky and hopped up on caffeine at the same time.

Caffeine makes my anxiety shoot through the roof, I avoid it like the plauge

I drink coffee in the morning and iced tea from noon on, all with caffeine obviously and all I feel is depressed. So I guess I'm the exception.

Here is my new brother, copper :) He's so tiny! Moo and Tuck were ok with him on first meeting. Rocket due to his severe aggression will never meet Cooper.
