Since June I have been battling with social security to get the back pay owed to my husband for his case he won in February. We got part of it in September and the rest we were told went to the state for back child support. The amount that supposedly went was about 12,858 too much. So I battled and battled and battled with them to get us the money we are suppose to have. Finally in the middle of October they said they were going to send it, well unknown to us the prepaid VISA card we had only allowed 7,000 to be deposited at one time so they kept rejected it. So SS had to resubmitt the money to us, which a month later still hasn't arrived. It is now sitting in this elusive payment center waiting to be released AGAIN.
Now if this was just me waiting on the money I would be like okay it sucks but let it roll on and I will get it when I get it. However my husband doesn't look at things that way. He sees this as a personal slap in the face and that they are purposefully lying to him for some unknown reason. And he is mad and when I say mad I mean so angry he is starting to have chest pains and take this anger out on me. He hasn't hit me but the verbal abuse is uncanny. He is having severe moments of psychos and is in a constant bad mood.
So here I am sitting here trying to be positive and do all the things I need to do in addition to taking care of a very very angry man who thinks the whole world is out to fuck him over...UGH

I pretty much dealt with this with hubby and his inheritance - off and on for about the last ten months. He was really just angry that he had lost his parents and the inheritance was something to focus on. (Is it possible your husband is grieving his disability?)
I could tell by the look on his face when he was brooding. At first, I was like fuck!!! really??? is this what rules our like now???
Then I figured out what was really making him angry. (I knew it couldn't possibly be me. HA!!) Now we sit down - him on one couch and me on the other - I really don't want to sit beside him at this point. And I listen (validate him) while he spits it all out.
It seems to help him to get it out. But, the rule is, once you have had your say, you let it go so we can enjoy our lives again. Just remember, Soss, you have to have boundaries for this to work. No personal attacks, no slamming doors, no pacing back and forth, a valid time limit.

I didnt have this problem when they cut the first retroactive checks but have dealt with them (and the beloved fucked up state) a few times since then on the matter of checks being sent to wrong address, money being taken back out ect - which is why I still claim I want to be back working for the government as MOST are underworked and overpayed tho will say that girl in the office that is trying to help you probably deserves a raise
