hallucinations

my son told me this morning that there are some kids that are being very mean to him but when I got to asking questions from his answers I am wondering if they are hallucinations. I have a call into his doc, but the nurse was not sure when he would get to reading the note. right now he's at school and I have let the school know if he needs to come home to call me and he has quiet places he is allowed to go to but is there something more I should be doing?

how old is he?

if he's young maybe he's trying to get your attention or simply it's the sort of thing young kids do.

I've been told teens aren't always entirely honest either.

he is eleven and he has had hallucinations before and ended up being hospitalized...he is bipolar as well as me and I don't think he would lie he seemed very upset about these kids and before he was hospitalized last time he hallucinated kids as well...he was also very agitated

I was 14 before I started having hallucinations and delusions. 11 is pretty young. Does he see a therapist?

yes he sees a therapist... I saw hallucinations younger than this I also lost time and heard voices as well and would go up to a week without sleep

Is he taking medication? If so, what is he taking? Does it seem to be working?

he does take meds but the doc just added risperidone to his other two which are Zoloft and Depakote they had seemed to be working until the beginning of the school year and that is when the doc added risperidone

Does he have special help at school? I know some kids in my son's class have a counselor that accompanies the student in need throughout the day. Next to home schooling, you're really resting on what the school can provide for him.

I have an appointment for the doc tomorrow with him. the doc doesn't think its the risperidone he has a few good friends he hangs out with but he wanted to do football and that hasn't worked so well for him. taking him out of school for a few days is what I did the last time before he was hospitalized and yes hospitalization does not help in my opinion and I hate to put him through that unless there is no other option. we do talk about school and different things but he is also private as well. I did not realize the hallucinations had started again and when I asked why he hadn't told me he said because he was embarrassed he ended up calling me from school to pick him up so he is here with me right now...I got him to relax for a while. hopefully he stays doing better.

    I find myself going places in the car and not wanting to get out of the car. I come back home and I don't want to get out of the car.     Wow, it's the middle of the week already!Today is our 11 year anniversary, so we're going out to a nice dinner.  I'm losing a lot of sleep these days, hence a wonky schedule and uncomfortable feelings.  But I know it will pass, eventually.I hope all of you have a peaceful day, and may good things come your way!
