I have schitzoeffective with bp1. I really felt like I was loosing my mind....I had barely no sleep, seeing things, hearing things so used to be going and going out of control to now I felt like I couldn't keep up with myself. Had to explain except I was going crazy, thought I lost it for good. My pdoc talked and observed my moods for a couple of months before I got a diagnosis. After a few hospitial stays also got diaggnosis of boarderline personality disorder

after a while I have just grown into my disease, you will to with time. Good luck on your journey

Heisen: Hi...well it scared me alot..i dont wanna be bipolar and i was worried because im 17..i asked "what if im just a moody teen?" and i was scared of the new meds..i never took an anti psychotic before and im scared of gaining weight. my mom is the one taking it very hard..she got so mad at me said that i told them bad things on purpose so they can diagnos me..i felt horrible and ultimately had a bad night and was destructive. i am taking 5mg of Abilify..i was taking half of the pill for 5 days now im taking the whole one

im doing alot of research about it..and about the medication.

My psychologist diagnosed me with BP because I came into her office with my husband in a rage. Then my husband described that my mood could go from rage to being a loving a caring wife. Then the psychiatrist gave me a written test where it asked if I had a racing mind, etc and I had all of the classic signs. I have been diagnosed with BP 2 with lots of depression. It was hard to tell at first because I am such a joyous person normally.

aww kim...im sure ur a caring person...for me i just get so suicidal sad..im normally a bubbly person always laughing and stuff so wen im saying i wanna die and i dont wanna live, everyone is concerned, i hope ur treatment is going well

Well I had been having panic/anxiety attacks for years including and post high school. I was undiagnosed with symptoms (but not knowing it at the time). I would change colleges every semester or so when I was "high" and could do anything, then I would get there not know anyone, get depressed, have panic attacks, shut down and not leave my house except to get food, and when I went home every weekend. I bought new cars every 3-6 months when I would get "bored" with the current one. Then my mom died. I don't know how I lasted 5 months away from home, self medicating with Jack Daniels, Jose Cuervo, etc. before, during and after work. I tried to kill myself several times but nobody ever knew. I couldn't work, was in debt to the tune of about 100,000 so I went back to community college then felt better a few months later... BAM same cycle. Wound up getting suspended from the university twice. A few months after mom died my GP kept me on Lorazepam for anxiety / panic and we tried several SSRI's. I gave up on them, wound up moving away again. Looked up psychiatrists, found "the best one in Missouri" went to him a few times he gave me a med that made me sleep 16-20 hours a day and eat so much awake and in my sleep that I gained 50-60lbs in 3 months. Had to drop out that semester, got suspended expelled whatever for a year this time and moved back home. Got a crappy job after awhile and had one of the most severe known manic phases of my life. I was awake for 5 days straight all while driving people around for 8-10 hours a day. (I was a road driver for a railroad hauling their employees from place a to place b, on call 24/7) so I knew something was wrong. So I knew I needed to find a pdoc again. Found a different one and he dx me bipolar after a few meetings, including one with my aunt whom is BP-1 like me. Sorry for the long post but I'm trying to get about 5-7 years into a small post!

I've been rage/hyporactive girl since i could walk and talk.. throwing tantrums more than a 4 year old would.. punching screaming.. breaking windows at the age of 12.. mum went to a DR and they diagnosed me with adhd.. but mum refused to believe it.. until i think a month and a half ago.. i got the guts and new something was wrong.. i knew my body wasn't meant to get so over happy and feel like im ontop of the world.. to very bad depression...saw a dr and after questions and things days of it.. i was diagnosed..its answers for me and in ways i can give a name to something instead of ''i don't know why i did it'' ''because i felt like it'' when i was little i used to discribe to the drs that something was telling me to do it.. like it FELT like something was telling me to do it.. but i was younger and didn't know how to explain things and they thought someone was in my head telling me which i meant i was feeling it but nobody was telling me it.. but i'm a happy person on meds and feel lost drousy a couple days ago..but i'm ready for my road to recovery!

when i was in 8th grade...we went to the statue of libery and i wanted to jump off the boat...i felt like something was telling me to do it..and so i stayed away from the edge cuz i didnt trust myself

Hello ijm. I wasn't dx until 30, so I was pretty loopy by then. My then bf took me to a pdoc and that's when I learned alllll about the world of BPI. It explained a lot. My life had been a hot mess and I was actually relieved to find out why.
