I've been having a kind of strange not-clearly-defined experience with Geodon. I think that maybe, maybe, maybe it speeds me up, rather than slow me down. (Abilify totally sped me up) By "speed up" I mean a) a bit more chatter in my brain; b) poorer concentration and memory (previously a sign of being TOO high up), c) terminal insomnia (I wake up very early, e.g. 5am and can't fall back asleep), thus shorter sleep.
I don't think it's supposed to be doing that, though my doc claims that anything is possible.
Anybody has some experiences to share on the topic?

Geodon was a death sentence for me. First it made me so sleepy I couldn't drive. Then, it made me so paranoid I thought I was going crazy. After several days I couldn't sleep at all. I called my doc and told him that wasn't for me.

I have been taking Geodon, 80mg (I am told this is a low dose) for like 3 weeks now. First, it knocked the sh*t out of me. Slept for 2 days. Then is started making me chipper, really speedy. That rarely happens now and I have to take my whole dose at bedtime because it makes me so sleepy I cannot function. It is all very variable. Thanks for posting this topic because I am having my own issues with it. I hope what I said makes some sense.

i have been on it for almost two years now. that's the longest i've ever been on anything. but i don't think it's working anymore. i Need a med adjustment

when i first started taking it, i slept sooooo fucking good. but now it doesn't make me sleepy any more so i take it at night and durring the day. but i wish it still did make me sleepy. geodon is still the Only thing that has ever made me sleepy. and i've tried just about every sleep med out there

I've been on for about 8 mouths. It makes me sleepy,but not sleep very long. When I get up I'm still drowey but can't go back to sleep. I also have a side effect when I wake up for a while of slurring when I talk.

be carefull. about a year after i started taking it i started having constant urges to move my hands. i found out that is an actual side affect of some meds. it starts with an a. (acanashia sp?) and i'm also ocd. so it became a constant urge to move my hands in repetative motions. but then i started talking klonopin and it stoped

I also had leg twitches that were exacerbated by too much caffeine. Those were very irritating. Sometimes it makes me sleepy, others not. It is weird.

I was on Geodon for about two weeks. Made me more manic and could not stop talking, during the day, by the evening I would get very restless and anxious, and when I took it at night it kept me up for hours instead of making me sleepy. Told doc. it was not for me just didn't feel right on it. Now I am going to try zyprexa, see how that does.
