Geodon was one of the first drugs I was on. For the first 2 days I thought it was the magic bullet (I was in a psychotic depression), but after day 2, I started to get tremors and had a seizure.

Just because it was disastrous for me, it could be your magic bullet. My advice would be to go back on it and continue with it, as long as you don't have any bad side effects, if you do get the side effects contact your pdoc ASAP.

I have been on Geodon for 3 years. It has worked well for my mixed mania. I too, have the problems with sleep. I take all of it about 3 hours before bedtime. I am totally out and asleep 3 hours later. When I took it in the morning, I would not sleep at all. Kinda wierd. The other antipsychotics were very sedating for me and I would never be able to get out of bed. I get my 8 hours of sleep and I am up. The only drawback to taking all of it at one time, I can feel the drug "wearing off" a couple of hours before I take it. Still, is worth the drawbacks.

I'm on 425 mg of Geodon a day and it's been great for me. I have used it for a couple of years and the only side effect I have had is extreme drowsiness. I agree with Chris, go back on it and see what happens. You have to take it for about four to six weeks to get the full effect. It stopped the voices in my head and controls the mania very well.

You freaked me out!!!! jk Sorry you had such a time with the geodon.

I am trying to talk myself into taking it again....because I have not been sleeping like I should and have been having many intrusive thoughts and extreme anxiety. Been hearing some voices too. Soooo, I know I need to take. Thanks so much for your advice.

Did you guys notice any weight changes from taking it??

I know sometimes it's hard to tell what causes the weight fluctuations, since most of us are on other meds. I was on lithium a few years back and gained weight like no tomorrow, seroquel too...oh and remeron made me want to eat the house!! Ugh......

Well, I need to sleep so I may give it another whirl.

I really did not gain weight on geodon.

Geodon like Abilify are supposed to be weight neutral.

Well that makes me happy! lol
