Has anyone been stuck in a psychiatric ward overseas?
I would like to hear about it.
I shared my story in the threads Crooks and Conmen a & b the other day...I found it terrifying.
Just shows me how important it is to make sure you are comfortable and confident of your treatment before going abroad.
Stupid me tried reducing my meds whilst away.
Gilded Lily, you were right about making a contract with myself about meds. Just the brain tricks you, you know. Your think your well and cured or don't have an illness at all when you feel well for so long, when its the medication you a taking that is keeping you sane.
Its really a hard pill to swallow.
Wish I could go med free, but I guess I proved to myself this won't be the case, for the next few years at least, before trying again.
I guess my accolade was this time I reduced the meds and didn't go off them completely. Thats the first time I have done this, therefore it was a short time of instability. Thank God.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

Take good care of you Maria... Acceptance I think is the key to this...Once you accept you have a disorder you do what you need to in order to stay well... Great big hug...xo
Yes I certainly believe I have some type of disordet, or maybe boxy is must be a little punch drunk, who knows but I feel better on fluanxol and a sleep med like seroquel. Its just my dosage I need to watch, to remain stable.
PS don't try this at home
Yes, I know the brain tricks me. I start thinking I am well or that I was never sick in the first place. It's always ended badly for me when I stop taking my meds. Now, I don't ever want to go back to the bad place - the place where I dig a hole so big it takes me forever to dig back out. Hence the contract.
Good for you that you only reduced them. Still very dangerous for us but nothing like quitting them cold.
Big hug and a kiss for you. Wishing you well.
