Hi All!
Back after a bout with substance abuse (diet pills and pain pills) and happy to be here. Some of y'all kicked my ass, and maybe I needed it. I'm a sensitive girl, but listening to constructive criticism without feeling judged is something I need to work on in my life.
I'm facing my first mixed state right now - hellish and miserable and I have NO idea how to handle it. I am either horribly depressed or manic and excessively irritable like I wanna throw this laptop across the room on a regular basis. Racing thoughts and misery. I am desperate for someone who has been through this to tell me how to deal.
Seeing my pdoc's replacement tomorrow - stressing that my pdoc isn't in this week.
Ugh, help. And, yes, I know that my poor choices likely led me to where I am. Help me deal with the present, not the past...please.
Thanks for any advice

Mixed states SUCK!!!
I'm sorry that you can now add that to the list of things that make up what Bipolar Disorder does to you.
While you may have brought this on by your behavior immediately preceding it and it's always good to look to see if we can pinpoint something within our control that might help avoid triggering a mixed state, if still may have happened 'just because'.
I haven't had much luck figuring out why mine happen when they do. Just seems part and parcel of 'my' particular brand of BP
Good luck at the fill in Pdoc tomorrow!!
I hope you'll be out of this current phase very soon!!!!

I am not new to my diagnosis -- just new to accepting it and really knowing I can't fix it alone. I am sorry I am not much help but I do thank you for posting this so I know what to call this limbo I'm trapped in.
When I get them, I take more of my antipsychotic, which will knock me out. I find that's the only way to cope with a mixed state until I can get a med adjustment.
Do you have something that could help you sleep?
((((((Hugs)))))
Also, hoping they up my antipsych to knock me out, and yes, I have Restoril to sleep. All good recommendations.
Raini - "sad zombie that can't sit still" hits the nail on the head...wonder if the Abilify could have a part in it and if they'll end up changing my antipsych. Heaven knows I've tried them all.
Thanks so much all.
