Ever have one of those days where you just feel.... so repulsive?
I see it a lot with depressed friends and acquaintances.
I'm just SO far behind on taking care of myself, my hair's taken on this really slimy, ick texture, (even though it's only been like 4 days since the last scrub) I just want to put it into a ponytail, lob the damned thing off, put it on the altar, and pray for it, because only jesus can save it now.
My skin too for that matter. All super gross. I hate people who have low-maintenance skin and especially hair, who can go a MONTH without washing their hair and it looks just fine (like my friend ugh, she's divine), and who can wash their face with an old bar of just-glycerin soap once in a while, whenever they get around to it, and look like a porcelain doll. Hate. Them. So bitter haha.
Not really though lol, my half-ass asexuality (demisexuality is the word) AND interest in surgical/medical stuff allows me to view body and bodily imperfections as architecture, I'm not *genuinely* repulsed by any amount of body fat, fat rolls, blemishes, weird angles, hair grease, body hair, lumps, bumps, or any other out-of-order thing. On myself, or others.
BUT I ALSO exist in reality, and I realize that in society, washing your hair every day, your face twice a day (or more for oil-prone skin like mine), brushing your teeth twice a day, and shaving whenever unappealing hair shows up is just the BARE MINIMUM.
That's also a socially constructed standard, but regardless, it iiiiis what it isssss. And it ain't what it ain't, and it isn't going away anytime soon; it's me that's flawed, not people who do these things religiously, like I should be doing. l:
It's so hard to keep up with the joneses when you're depressed and surviving on spite and your caffeine addiction alone. Haha.
That being said! I'll post a separate, more positive thread where we can all discuss tips for feeling less gross when we're too down-but-not-out-yet to really keep up with appearance, and also motivation to at least try.

But summer is coming and I'm going to try and not slack on the shaving.Why do we have hair on our bodies anyway besides the head??And whoever deemed it appropriate way back when that having body hair needed to be done away with??
Even though I hate shaving I do have an aversion to body hair.My niece and nephew shave their arms. It looks pretty cool all slick and everything but I'm not even gonna think about having that upkeep!
