Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

Hello,
I am new to this chat, I just joined today because my friend thought it would be a good resource for me right now.
I am in last year of law school and it has been difficult the entire time having bipolar while being in this program but this last year has been the by far the worst. I feel like no medication allows me to pursue the career I want and help bring me stability but without it, I can be 10x worse. There is so much stigma around my illness, especially in the law field, and it scares me that any moment everything I worked so hard for will be for nothing when my symptoms just become too bad at the wrong time. Does anyone else feel this way? How do you get through it?

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

So you go to 3rd year, congratulations. Hopefully you can complete your courses and with 2 years experience with the same approach, hopefully you can finish the year. Interviewing is a different challenge. But look around and you should find a position.
There are a LOT of meds that are effective
Work with your doctor
If some side effects are too much maybe look at something else
I agree that there are functioning people with bipolar in all walks of life
There are lawyers that regularly defend people with mental illness
Deep breaths...Naybe some therapy while you're figuring this out might help if you're not in it
Another hug...xo
I switched meds recently so I still have to give it time to see how they work with me and hopefully I notice improvement soon. I appreciate your kinds words while I try to navigate through this difficult time.
