I've realized over 20+ the the pdoc's, the nicest and best - have hundreds of patients, files on his desk, files going in and out... the pharmacies have thousands of customers - and I live in a small area!!!!!

It IS frustrating, but whether their heart or intentions are good - today's medical - in the US is volume...

Gina you just described my pdoc to a tee. He has charts all over they place, yet he knows where mine is each and every time. I have good luck when I call the pharmacist. I am catching a cold and I called the pharmacist yesterday and asked what I could take without interfering with my pshyc meds. She told me Sudafed from behind the counter is the best thing and it used to be gaufenisen only, which doesnt work. But I am on a lot less medications then a couple years ago.

I'm not innocent I've played with my meds on my own. Some times with good results and some times with bad.

I would still try to get a hold of the pdoc as soon as you can though as geodon is not made to be taken every other day like that. Usually it's taken twice a day. I think the prescription is too strong for you plain and simple. So hopefully you can get a less strong dose soon. The sooner the better.

Wow, I hear ya sister! I just left a message with my pdoc's medical assistant about my damn klonopin, titrating down and now im getting 3 or so hours of sleep.

Combine that with my hormones...im gonna blow any minute.....

they will call me back on friday after a million calls .... hopefully

Actually, I love my pharmacist. She and the clerks know me, they know what I take, and I can count on them. Also, she knows way more about meds than any of my doctors do.

As for your doctors - blow their phones up!! Yes, they are overloaded, but you are the most important patient they have right?? Do you know why your emergencies are more important than any one else's?? Because they are yours. Call them again!!!

I'm getting worse here as the day goes on.....very upset and won't make any sense if I call them back. I was told that the nurses won't be in until tomorrow. It's hard to explain how this facility that I am going to works.....they don't have a doc in every day. Every other day....BUT I was told I could call anytime and the would get a hold of the doctor.

I'm actually getting extremely pissed and about to call my therapist who works in the same office and give him a babbling ear full.

This is why I go off the fn AP's, I cannot find one that doesn't give me these fn side effects.......my options for med treatment very thin here....sigh I'm getting super uber fn pissed off but trying very hard not to because it won't get me anything but high blood pressure and I would like to live atleast long enough to see my youngest son graduate college!!!!! SOB

I have the same problem with my pdoc. He MIGHT call me back within 2-3 days.

I'm so sorry you're going through this sweetie.. It might be a good idea to call your therapist.. He/she probably could get hold of the pdoc for you..
I really like talking to pharmacists .. They know their drugs better then anyone..

Forget mental health. Bad docs are everywhere. My family doc took a week to get back to me every time about whether my elbow was broken. I have to make an appointment to find out if it is fused.

She didn't even tell me my kidneys were going downhill - my pdoc was kind enough to tell me. I think an office with a registered nurse is best because they can handle things. But how to find one for a pdoc, a mystery, for sure!

The last time I called my pdoc, he called me back in 20 minutes. He is good at calling me back. But I was very manic and the longer it took, with every minute that passed, I was so certain he had sent the police to my house with an ambulance to have me committed that I started packing my bags. Thanks God for my roommate, lol. Talk about paranoia. Definitely call them back!!!!! Good luck.

tats, I wouldn't take it personally. Like everyone says, they probably have a boatload of folks to treat and they have to triage them and put the crisis case on top of the pile. That's why they say "Call if there's an emergency". It's like the police; they won't come quickly unless there's a crime in progress. People only have two arms and one head; they just can't do it all simultaneously.

But I hear your frustration. Try to hang in there.

My p-doc does the best he can and he is a good p=-doc. It took him awhile to "learn" me.

The person I am angry at is the therapist and hubby. Hubby doesn't get that we need to pay the bill and therapist is not there enough for it to even count. And, we are poor, so where am I going to go if I need real help?!!

There is a Baptist church down the street that has counselors and I know in a few months where I am going--DOWN THE STREET so that the next time the truck is down I can just jump down the street.

Yes, the Community Mental Health Systems are cruddy. It isn't personal.
